[RM2K3] THE ANIMATION FOR A SWITCH SKILL ISN'T SHOWING?

Hello! I am trying to make a check skill (like what is shown here https://youtu.be/z0M4l4ClhRw?t=1m21s )
I did a bit of digging, and I found this helpful topic.
I followed the tips, but I can't seem to get these things to work?:
-The skill's animation never appears
-The skill's name comes after the enemy's status being shown. I want it to be before it

thanks!

Can you show me screenshots of how you've set the skill up?

Oh, I see where you've gone wrong. Common events only run on the map. If it's a battle skill you'll have to make a monster party event for every troop that's activated by the switch that the skill turns on, and do your text there.
ooooooh dang I should've known that.
It works smoothly now, Thanks for helping me!
Just to note, you can call common events from monster party events, and it's a good practice so that if you have to make changes later on you only have to do the changes in one place instead of EVERY MONSTER PARTY. It's just that common events with the Parallel Process or Auto Start trigger type won't be triggered during combat.

That's an excellent point.
I have more problems with this,
When I use the skill now, the game freezes up, and the overworld map shows for a split second before showing the enemy's statistics
and the skill's name still comes after the enemy's status being shown

You said it worked smoothly before: what's changed between then and now?
This time I tested it in the actual game. Previously I used the "Battle Test" feature.

So it works in battle test but not in the game itself?
Actually, I tried again. It has the same problem in the battle test, despite there not being an overworld, it still flashes.

Did you do it in a monster party event or did you call a common event from battle like Aubrey suggested?
I didn't change anything. I'll do what Aubrey suggested
Did you remove the common event now that you moved it to battle events? (Or at least change it from "parallel process"?)
