They told me I was mad when I said I was going to create a spidertable. Who’s laughing now!!!

Discord is the only one I don't hate completely, so I guess that makes the choice easy. Though really
because there's a lot less conversations that die immediately after the greetings and small talk.

Small talk is the reason I go to these things. Is that weird? I go to the forums for... I don't know really. And small talk in chat.

My problem isn't the small talk, it's that the conversations go
Hi!
Hi! How are you!
Fine, you?
Fine
And then CEASE TO BE
Y'ALL NEED TO ENTERTAIN ME, is what I am saying.

Actually wherever I go if there is an equivalent of the slacksucks channel there then I think I will be fine. Gotta talk about them films. Gotta.

*shrug* IRCs are like that most times, because people only go there (80-90% at least) when they are bored. Bored people usually are boring conversation starters, because if they had fun important things on their minds, they'd be doing something with that instead haha.
Happens all~ the time.
I use discord for ts substitute. I prefer ts still tho, I am like, inconvenienced that there are channels I literally do not want to chat with people or listen to them, ever. As little as there is. So I'd leave and then I'll have them send me invite codes all over again for the next LoL match or what. Just clutter.
Well, IRC is sort of asynchronous, too. Somewhere in between what most people think of as an IM, and a mailing list. It's relatively common, even on channels with double digit users for a conversation to have an hour or two in between messages.
And if you want more than small talk, don't say "Hi", or ask if you can ask questions. People tend to not expect that, or consider it particularly polite in IRC.

Hence my preference for fora, where the chatter is usually based around a topic. :V
*chuckle* Gotcha. And I feel the same. Fora are great, and I am happy to see the plural used : D
Otherwise if I feel like chatting, usually I rather go to friends if I have the choice : )
Like knocking at your door, bringing some juice with me and asking if you can introduce me to uni.

I just poke people and demand answers. I make direct questions about their lives to get people talkin. Or just use it as a platform to talk about my self ;P
Red_Nova
Sir Redd of Novus: He who made Prayer of the Faithless that one time, and that was pretty dang rad! :D

I'm a bit of a minimalist, so having three external places to chat is a really good way to keep me from visiting all of them. Put a gun to my head and demand an answer, though, and I'll say Slack. I use it to communicate with people outside of RMN for various projects, so it works well for me.

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I prefer as few places as possible. I don't actually care where we go, as long as we don't split the party.
wtf is "discord"?
is that when we had shmup crew here on RMN?
E:
oh god. a VOICE chat client? wtf. that sounds fucking obnoxious.

It's mostly text, just with voice options (that I have turned off because fuck talking to people)
Does Discord archive posts or does it delete everything like Slack? That's my main issue with Slack: content gets removed after a short while.
I also vote that we decide to pick one and stick to it.

Maybe it's just me, but I never feel comfortable saying anything when a conversation is already taking place. And if the channel is dead, there doesn't seem to be any point in staying. This has been true of when I was on IRC (which was years ago), the Slack channel, or even talking to my McBacon teammates on Discord.
*Edit: There is a post archive on Discord, as far as I know.

Discord behaves much better on my pc and I'm very used to it. Besides, the group chat I appear the most, one with a handful of brazilian gamedev friends from no particular communities at all, is primarily active on discord. We used to be on facebook but it helps us focusing a lot to change to discord -- I just keep screenshotting progress pics of whatever im doing and we exchange feedback right away : P
if a conversation starts with hi it is already fated to oblivion
