I'm at 11/24. Does that qualify as near the end?
Oh god I hope the game doesn't end in December. I have SO MANY Confidants I still need to work on. I JUST got enough social stats to advance Sojiro and Makoto... Give me January, at least.

I'm 8/28, but I also accidentally saw a bit of art that confirmed a lot of my suspicions. I think you would find it interesting to look at, Red XD
The game should go through March for a full year or else I will be very upset =0 I don't actually know about P5, but P4 did a full year iirc (well, in P4G when they added Marie and the skiing dungeon anyway).

Oh, that? Huh. I didn't think that was a spoiler, but I'll hide it anyway JUST IN CASE...
If I recall, the original P4 didn't have a playable Winter season. At the end of December, you jumped straight to March to end the game. The winter season was added in P4G not just for the new dungeon, but to accommodate for lost time thanks to the new scenes. If P5 doesn't have a playable Winter season, it'll probably be added in P5: Thief Edition or something for the Vita later in 2022 or whenever if Atlus keeps up the pattern.
That "Take Your Time" loading screen is such a liar.
It's hinted at in the title screen through just a silhouette, but it's a dead giveaway on the box cover. Plus, on the PS4 version, the start screen that shows up just before the game launches "spoils" it, too. No clue what the PS3 wallpaper looks like, though, so maybe it's not given away there? Though I actually didn't notice the instance you mentioned until you pointed it out, haha.

also, red, i highly suggest you take a look at the in-game calendar... unless it's just an EXTREMELY RUDE TEASE, haha
9/19, fifth dungeon spoilers
given his "antithesis" speeches early on and how the game is so extremely lupin vs holmes, i expected it was a ruse or an attempt at another adachi

did anybody else have haru do some confidnat-based moves without having a confidant yet? it's literally the first day i can do the dungeon, but haru did a rearguard-style follow-up after joker hit a weakness. yusuke and makoto never did that, and haru doesn't have baton pass yet, so... wtf? (i'm not COMPLAINING, just confused)
also i 150% expected a shadow teddie fight out of morgana. really glad there wasn't one... fucking Magician characters

Re: Your second spoiler, my only guess is that comes from one of the Star Confidant's abilities. I assumed it could only proc for party members who had those abilities unlocked, but maybe not.
I have some advice on endgame time management, which I wish I had known going into it. I won't spoil anything specific, but I'll hide it anyway in case someone wants to go in totally blind.
One thing that caught me offguard is that while most of the game puts your deadline right up in your face, the end of the game comes at you suddenly and without much warning. I had been expecting another 2-3 week deadline since that's how the entire game had worked up until that point, and as a result, I didn't manage to finish some things up that I wanted to.
So, my advice is: if you feel like the story might be ending soon, play on the safe side and start wrapping things up.

Ugh, that's disappointing. This isn't exactly a short game, so one would think they'd hold back a little before selling spoilerific material.
Speaking of selling, anyone get the DLC personas? How are they? I ate more instant ramen than I want to admit to save up for the Take Your Heart edition, so I'm not paying $2 for each new persona unless they are REALLY amazing.

11/18 and beyond spoilers
and i dunno, the only dlc i got was the dancing all night pack and the smt4 pack.
i suggest waiting to read this until people get really far into the game but it's PRETTY INTERESTING
GIVE ME MY BOY BACK. HE HAS THE BEST DANCING ALL NIGHT DLC OUTFIT AND THE BEST VICTORY POSE.
does he even have a chest-opening animation? i never got to see it. i want him back. pls come back

That's a really interesting entry, Craze. Makes me look at the character in an all new light.
I'm about to beat the game, but final exams are keeping me down, so I'll keep this as a reward for when I'm done with them.
...Though I want to beat it so bad, it feels more like torture than a reward...
Anyway, level 62, 17 Confidants maxed (including the automatic ones), and all social stats except Guts maxed. Not bad for a first playthrough. I think new game + will go pretty smoothly, even for Merciless mode. I'm mad I couldn't get Empress maxed thanks to the social stat requirement forcing a late start.
Interesting how both Kogoro Akechi and Arsene have ties to Sherlock Holmes.
It adds a cool new connection between Akechi and the MC.

You can have Ryuji. The only reason why I don't completely hate him is because his VA is so good. If I could date dudes, I'd want to go for Yusuke. He's been, by far, the most entertaining bro in the cast. I eventually decided on Makoto, though. She's my second favorite.
Spoilers for a week or two before the fifth palace (can't remember the date, sorry)
Beat the game last night. That was the most fun I've had with a game in a looooong time. Instant GOTY pick for me. I honestly don't think anything is going to come close to touching it this year. The wait was totally worth it, and I can happily point to this game as evidence for why I never get upset over a game being delayed.
Well then, time for New Game + on Merciless.

After Ryuji had his falling out with Morgana was when I really came to despise him. It's fine to have rivalries, and it's fine to be bad at wording yourself when apologizing. However, the way Ryuji handled it was so horrible that I don't think he was even sorry for what he said. I got the impression that the only reason he said he was sorry was because the rest of the party forced him to. It didn't sound to me like he was sorry at all, and he still think Morgana is useless.
...Which is why it really pisses me off that I used Ryuji for Matarukaja and is amazing physical attacks for the rest of the game and not Morgana.

Game was so good. I avoided internet long time to avoid spoilers.
My biggest complaint with the game is I felt it was structured EXTREMELY similar to P4. The stories were wildly different, but certain key points of the story were developed and executed in a very similar formula to it.
However, I loved just about everything else.
The palaces were the best person dungeons BY FAR. Best character overall as well. The story came out in the perfect time during the world, made the whole thing make a huge impact on me.
Ryuji, Morgana, and Sojiro are the best pals. (Red you need to reconsider your wrong opinion on Ryuji, he's the best! he more than made up for that debacle you mentioned) I thought Ann was great at first, but somehow every female character that came after I liked much more. (However I settled for dating her due to social rank conflicts. I had to max Proficiency for the one I liked best and that just wasn't going to happen in time.)
The game took me a bazillion hours and I felt like it wasn't enough. What an experience. I guess not being able to remotely max out all confidants on one playthrough is a statement of how one can never do everything they want to do in life.
Onto Persona 3 for me, I never beat that (or made it past like July) and it was always a great shame of mine. I decided to get it on Vita so I can actually have time to play it.

Fite me, zDS. Ryuji is a budget Yosuke. Maybe I'll change my opinion after seeing him again after a second playthough, but he's just overshadowed by literally everyone else in the cast. If he didn't eventually learn Matarukaja, I would have permanently benched him as soon as Yusuke joins the party.
Oh jeez, going back to an older Persona game would be a huge pain after getting used to all the improvements the series made. At least you're getting the infinitely superior P3P. I don't think I could ever get back to FES.
I'm not normally a fan of New Game+ in games, since I get bored if I'm too OP, but NG+ in P5 isn't so bad thanks to you losing all the Personas in your party. Honestly, I would have been happy if the only thing that carried over was your social stats, but the endgame equipment and cash will make this playthrough a lot easier.
I eventually dropped my Merciless runthrough plan, though. I want to max out the compendium, and Merciless cuts all your EXP and Gold to 1/4. The EXP cut I could probably handle, but the cash drop killed the deal for me since wouldn't be able to summon Personas for fusion as easily as I could otherwise. Maybe I'll crank it up to Merciless mode for bosses for the challenge.

I used Ryuji the whole game and he was consistently good! Attack up all is his saving grace in the end, but overall his good defense on top of good physical attacks were a consistent destroyer of foes.
I thought about the debacle more, so here's some spoiler tags about it! (major spoilers who haven't played)
I'm the type of guy who enjoys going back to older installments in series. P3 still has an interesting story I want to see unravel, as I know nothing about it thank god. Also, I'm super glad you deemed P3P superior because that was the hardest decision I made in months. I chose it so I could do it casually and whenever.
I'm also fine with equipment transferring to new game +. At one point I just want to see the social ranks unravel. If I wanted a huge challenge, I'd just new game it haha.

I totally felt Ryuji feel sorry for how he treated Morgana. I think those two had a brotherly rivalry that went too far because both of them had a hard time expressing themselves. When douchebag fiance kicked Morgana, Ryuji instantly screamed "Leave my friend alone!" or something similar. He showed his true colors for Morgana there. They mostly got along well since!
More about why I like him. Ryuji is the bravest character. He always goes right up to the villain and is not afraid to tell them what he thinks. The fact that he ALWAYS stood up to Kamoshida and ruined his whole life because of it says a lot too. Ann didn't until her friend almost killed herself. No teachers did. No parents. Only Ryuji. Of course until main character arrived. Yet in Ryuji's defense, main character had powers like instantly. Ryuji did it as a helpless kid.
His bravery remained the whole game. He walked right up to Shido when he was giving a speech in the neighborhood and had no shame in confronting him. Lots of situations like that.
I was worried throughout the game that Ryuji would accidentally betray everyone by being stupid about wanting to be famous, but he grew and that problem never happened. Then there was the amazing (and almost the saddest moment ever) at the end of Palace 7. He was more than willing to die to save everyone. He did not even hesitate.
As much as I liked Yosuke in P4, Ryuji is king in my eyes! He has the best palness of Yosuke, and the awesome fight style of Kanji. Those are my humble two cents on the foolish yet brave former track star!

Holy crap you can fight the secret boss immediately after reaching Mementos in New Game+. Is it actually humanly possible to beat it at that point?
