What do you think the perfect message speed is in RM2K3?
I currently use message speed 2. out of 20. When the message is shown, there is never more than three lines, which usually only for yes or no questions. Other than that I only use 2 lines... What do you think?

\! is the only pause code I really use.
I find slow text messages really annoying unless they are for special purpose cutscenes. As in, it's some sort of cinematic effect in which the text has a special usage other than just plain talking slow. If the text is too slow I'll just hold shift and skip through it. If someone's talking slow, I might put a one or two second pause somewhere.

Default.
If I want to insert pauses or whatnot, I just use the special codes like \| and \. and \!
That, except, wait, what does \! do again?
And \^ occasionally.
Slow text is pretty annoying, but um, I'm pretty sure speed 2 is faster than default, since default is 10 isn't it? (and 1 is fastest, 20 is slowest)
\! ·Pauses message. Show of the next word is done by pressing space bar.
I find slow text annoying, although I can stand it if it is used to synchronize with something happening in a cutscene.

I remember using "\!" when i first started creating my game but never could be bothered using it after that. I'm surprised at how many there are.

SAme here lol
I was like "OMG I CAN MAKE THE TEXT STOP UNTIL THEYZ PUSH ENTERZ!!11"
But now, I haven't ever used it in my newer projects
Really? I find \! to be the most important tool at my disposal for writing dialogue--that and \.\.text\.\..
\^ is pretty effective, especially in suspense/horror games, because you can make something scary happen to end the message before the player presses enter and finishes reading, hopefully startling them. Best used with /. and/or /| of course.
Also all of the slashes in this post are wrong but for some reason I'm too confused to fix them!
