I think calling all of it anime is over-generalizing, since 'anime-style' is already a vague connotation anyway.

Why did everyone ignore this?

Also technically, the aesthitics used in anime (as in japanese animation) are the ones labelled as manga since the still images for character concepts fall into manga. But even than manga is pretty diverse in style contrary to the general belief that it is all pointy hair, big eyes, small month.

Regarding FF: Artworks by Amano could or could not fit into manga, the guy is japanese and such he has some influence from his own culture, however his main style reminds me of fashion design sketches with some european art influence, which is excellent.

Nomura is just boring for the most part and nothing compared to Amano.
