Desertopa thinks that a review isn't good if it doesn't, "have enough information about the work that it can help readers make a judgement even if they have different priorities".

I think that a review is good as long as the reader comes away knowing exactly why the reviewer did or didn't like something, even if it doesn't have the information Desertopa mentions.

Yeah I think I understand. I think the clash is that Desertopia is coming from the angle of movie reviews fulfilling a traditional newspaper pro-consumer purpose, and you're just coming from the idea that reviews can be a form of self expression so long as there's some kind of skillful justification of it, which can fit into desertopia's standards if the reviewer so chooses to be a "consumer informer".
