[MAFIA] THE EXORCISM OF MAFIAVILLE (GAME OVER)

i'm going to assume we're barking up the wrong tree with the 'switching scum' thing because if it's true then there is literally no basis for any lynch right now.

the definition of fact is loose here:

fact 1. eye resorted a town result on shinan

fact 2. gourd and dudesoft were said to be different

fact 3. gourd got a result of town on each living player except psy and shinan


IF we assume that all of these are true and accurate, then the only scum is psy, who would be some kind of superscum. HOWEVER, we also know from ozzy that there exists a spirit and a vessel. I think it's safe to assume that the vessel is not town since they never outted. So that would give us two scum. I assume it's not three since the game is still going and we're at 6 people alive.

so this means either pazuzu's results are faulty or gourd's are. if it's pazuzu, then shinan and psy are scum together. if it's gourd's, then we have some kind of godfather present amongst the scumteam.

I'm more inclined to believe the godfather thing, or else the specific wording of gourd's message gave him a false result. like he asked if there were any 'mafia' but the flavor doesn't actually have the scumteam as 'mafia.' just because i'm not sure if i personally see the shinan/psy scumteam. his role is also very powerful if it's totally accurate. like he would have locked down the entire scumteam in three days using it?

that would also make me more likely to believe that pazuzu's results are accurate.

@cave: Any investigation result? And are both Pazuzu and the eye still alive? I thought LockeZ would've had to be one of them. I'm specifically interested in trying to evaluate that DIFFERENT result from Gourd+Dudesoft if Gourd was town. It would indicate either that 1) the investigation returns DIFFERENT for power roles, 2) DS is neutral, or 3) pazuzu is a liar and should be killed if possible. Outside chance that pazuzu is demonlord trolling you from beyond the grave similar to Liberty in SMT.

the eye is still there but at the end of last night it just said it was closed. like the eyelid is closed i guess. I have no fuckgin idea if that means it's "dead" or roleblocked or needs to rest or what. at this point I'm fairly sure it's not actually a player. didn't get any message to the effect of pazuzu dying yet.

It's not like that's stopped people from designing games like this before. Presumably this is why we had all the town investigative powers.

I'm still not buying static scumteam:
1 - Why do people flip as "POSSESSED" and not town?
2 - Why would LockeZ be the nightkill? The nightkill obviously isn't scum looking for the vessel, because Ebeth was killed. LockeZ had hammered seer and was waaay more suspicious than like, Odd, who everyone knows is town.
3 - I doubt there's a godfather because Gourd wasn't even a cop. What would their ability be? If the seer happens to phrase a question about your alignment, you'll be counted as vanilla? There'd be too many edge cases with questions like "how many scum are there" which is what I think Gourd was meant to ask -- he specifically said he was able to ask "how many" not just yes/no.
4 - I can see shinan as scum sort of, but not as solo scum, because that'd probably make him Pazuzu.

The only thing that doesn't work with my theory is why LockeZ registered as not-mafia to Gourd if he was possessed. I had been working under the assumption that possession lasted a day before killing the host. Maybe there's a distinction between permascum ("mafia") and a temporary recruit ("possessed"), sort of like a cult leader that killed their minion after a night. Still wouldn't explain why demon died unless the recruitment power was night 0. I really, really wish Gourd would've phrased his questions as "anti-town" but I kind of wish he did a lot differently so w/e.

You're fairly sure the eye isn't a player? Don't you have a masondoc with them?

but i would rather proceed as if there is some logical basis for lynching or else we just randomly kill someone (bad). this means we either trust gourd's result and mercilessly execute psy, or, alternatively, we ignore every single night action in the game and just kill someone who is scummy.

The ONLY effective piece of information is the idea that Gourd and I are "Different".
That doesn't mean he is Mafia. It MIGHT mean he is Mafia.

from this and other posts he seemed to have an inkling of how gourd would flip. and gourd's results being bunk would be some reason to trust mine. i somehow doubt i would have gotten the result i got if it was just the distinction between power role and vanilla.

Sometimes people who do not get power roles think it's too boring to actually play.

It is not that I consider the game boring, rather that I am useless in the game, and while I want to participate, I essentially have no opinions or ideas that I can trust.

Now the reason for lynching cave that I was unable to get to yesterday since I had to travel for a bit.

A couple of people this game have roleclaimed. Everyone of them has been killed. Except cave, who has jumped on every one of the claims and contributed greatly to all useful town roles getting killed. In the interest of the preservation of the town I feel that the greatest threat to us all right now is in fact Cave who has been more effective than the werewolves in decimating our useful numbers.

Personally, I don't want to lynch Psy right now. I think that he's trying to figure out mechanics. It could be seen as scummy in previous stages (mislead us by trying to make us believe that the setup was stranger than it really was). But now, his tone and the way he interacts with Cave look good to me.

also, pazuzu is trying to convince me that if we kill me, there won't be a night kill tonight. which is...uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
