Hello. I'm very new to this sort of thing, and I'm very sorry if you guys get a bunch of noobs asking the same questions over and over, but I can't seem to find the answer to my question, and it's probably pretty basic.

I'm using rpg maker xp, but i have no idea how to actually SHARE my game with people over the internet. It's just a file on my computer, How do I turn the file into a REAL playable game, that I can show other people? Upload, publish, not sure the correct term, but yeah. How Do i do it?
You upload the files (say, here, or Rapidshare, or Sendspace - whatever) so that other people can download it.

This is really format specific. But if it's an RM2k/3, XP or VX game you can just upload a zipped or rar'd game folder (look up winzip or winrar on the internet) and you'd be fine.
I think I can handle that, Thanks alot =)
Hmmm, I guess I can't handle that. I tryed to send the game file, but it doesn't work. Do I need to send the whole folder? And if so, how do i do that? I want to make sure i know how to share it before i really put time into making it.

Umm I've never used XP before but you should be able to click "File" and then "Compress Game Data" and That should make a EXE of your game, which you can then upload to a site like mediafire
I zipped the folder, and my friend could access the game, but this is what showed up when he opened the game.

As I said I'm not an XP person so i dunno what that error is ... but I'm pretty sure It has to do with the person not having RMXP installed on their system (I get the same error when trying to play XP games, I guess because I don't have it installed)
Yeah, like Rasta said, It's probably because your freind doesn't have XP's RTP installed on his/her computer.
I'm guessing that your game works fine, but it needs the RTP to be playable.
Ah Yes! What Gemini says is correct. Any file you used in your game that is an RTP file, should be included in your project's folder before Compressing the Game Data (If you want it to be standalone-No RTP- that is).

I dunno if it has the option in XP, but there should be a check box that says "Include RTP data." You should check that if you forgot what RTP files were used, so It will just include every RTP file (This is not recommended, as it significantly increases file size).
For any maker you will need the RTP to be able to play the games.

Not true.
You can make the games Standalone, which is what I did for Shrine of Kammuki
