FINAL FANTASY IV DS (DIDN'T FIND AN OLD ONE)

The fuck? The graphics all seem out of whack and unprofessional. Sometimes the camera shows areas of the map and when the angles changes and that area of the map is covered up, it's inaccessible. I've found many strange invisible walls. The walking motion looks like floating more than walking. The map on the bottom screen seems very tacked on and some from a second or third tier RPG, not one of leading series of the genre.
Wow! The voice acting is really rad. They really redid the script (IV for the Super Famicom had no kanji, and they invented huge big kanji words this time). I think it reads well, and the music and mood is great. Cut scenes are overall very well done. Cinematic camera angles and whatnot.
Overall, seems so different from the Dragon Quest remakes and less professional than Final Fantasy III for the DS. Strange. I wonder why?
I've just left the castle and am on my way to the valley of Mist. I'll post more impressions later.
If there is an old topic a few months old, I really prefer starting fresh rather than reviving an old thread that everyone reads through again thinking it's new only to realize halfway through it's not and get angry at me.

It was promising, but couldn't get to the point of amazing. The music is mixed really badly even if there instruments are fairly high quality. (Listen to FFTA2 if you want to hear some great DS mixing).
I wish the game wasn't so slow.

Read up on Augments now. The game does a piss poor job of explaining it and since you get a limited amount of NG+ (and therefore a limited number of augments) you should know what you have to do to get the good augments.
Thinking about this game fills me with Nerd Rage. Most of the game isn't bad, but the end game is fustrating and not because its hard.

I liked this remake a lot. I never beat it, though. I have save file like . . . at the very very end. The ramped-up difficulty was awesome and the boss fights were all really puzzley. My personal favorite was Cyber Lugae.
I really liked this remake as i think i've stated before but i find the originals to always be the best. The final boss of the game was pretty damn hard.
I think the graphics really help with the characters and the feel of the game. When I played IV as a kid, I never really fully got that Cecil was a bad guy, and the intensity of Rydia's forgiveness and Cecil's betrayal to Baron. I could be misunderstanding shit, but Kain's character seems a lot more stronger and even cold now, and I'm looking forward to his betrayals.
Battles just need to be tweaked. Certain small things are a few seconds too long and it really adds up and makes the battles tedious (start of battle, magic animation, ATB wait time, victory). Once again, Square has chosen graphics over game play it seems with the battles. They do look quite pretty.
I'm quite enjoying myself so far, despite the faults.

I didn't like FFTA2's repetitive music but that was only due to over 100 hours of exposure to it. The unit screen music is the worst IMO.
I loved FFIV DS, the only FF RPG game I've managed to beat.
Yeah i found the battles to be difficult in Final Fantasy IV. The fact that every few steps an enemy would pop out reslly frustrated me.
