So, I'm running RM2K3 on Wine in Linux Mint, and the default font is absolutely unreadable. I tried a patch to fix the font, but it didn't change anything. How do I fix this?

If it's one particular font, it is unreadable on all systems.
I use wine myself and 2k3 games, if they run, look normal.

hi yonderfork! ♥

Alien Hunter asked a similar question back in 2018, but it was mostly for other compability issues involving MIDI playback etc. But he did link to some sites resources available you might want to check out:
These were the only helpful sources, but they didn't really solve my issues up above:
In a couple of them, they do mention the font issue, but I'm not quite sure how to fix it.

The folks over on EasyRPG also mentioned this issue, but it was for GNU LINUX and it was about blurry anti-aliased font but they provided a solution for it - you might also want to check this out:

I'd like to figure out a solution to this font issue as well. I was able to get the font to work for some rpgmaker2000 games through wineskin on Mac OS, by installing the font fix through the traditional method. But rpgmaker2003 seems to be another issue:

But yea, let us know if any of this helped. I assure you the information is out there - Jammed Gears on youtube made some really great Mac ports of rpgmaker games using Wine, but it's really hard to get a hold of them.

If you make any progress with this, please keep us posted.
Thanks for this discussion!
