The exception to this is Dudesoft. It toes the line with "LOOK EIM A COMPANEE" but it's just a great name for some reason. Unfortunately, I think it's already taken as the name of a company.
what, are we playing game production COMPANY now?

what the hell. do you want some coffe with that boardmeeting OKAY THAT'S IT YOUR'E FIRE
mommy bro fired me well ok

Even when I plan on going commercial, it is in a very independent way (as much as law allows me too) and I don´t care about "looking professional" or immitating Squaresoft, I care about producing good quality stuff.

As far as team goes, I got my secret deals with a great composer from this board who posted on the top of this page *hint hint* and I also work as a mercenary artist/spriter for other game developers/teams (payment on cash or VX scripts for those interested) <- shameless plug :P
I think having a game production company name is cool if only for the fact that you can put the logo in your game's startup!
Just because Squaresoft does that... okay :P

Seriously, all I care is having my name in the credits so I can use the game in portfolio, this whole company stuff is just trying to immitate big companies.
If we want to talk about imitating big companies, having an x production name is the least annoying thing that people 'copy' from JRPG developers. It doesn't particularly bother me, as long as the game's good.
It's not really annoying, it's just really really dumb and immediately noticeable. I mean it's your name.

Dawg I will definitely need your magic pixels in the future you better come up with some way for me to pay you that isn't ca$hmoneydollar$ because yeah I don't have any of those and I don't fart music or poop scripts either.
McGee: You are a writer and a native english speaker, I have plenty of need use for that :)
I think RM and other programs like it create too many people who believe they are a 'Company' its more of a amature group/team than an actual Dev team. not that the wording is important but alot of designers need to realise the difference between the two. one gets paid and publishers the other is a group of friends having a good time ^^

As for naming a company you shouldn't really use other biggy's as refrence, calling yourself 'Triangle Soft' (for example) isnt cool, infact people will just look at you as a copycat company that dev's copycat games just off that title, its degrading and lame. company names are made to be short, snappy and easy to remember. keep that in mind before you come up with a long ass coolish name like 'Shiroi and Kuroi Productions' who ever looks back at your company further down the line will be like "yeah it was a good game by...er... w/e they were called."

*COMMON.
**RARE.
Yep, and what I need more is the native english speaker part (since despite how much I use english, mine is far from perfect).

I will make your words so pretty! And of course 100% grammar/spelling compliant. (I have in fact been paid to do this.) When you get to that part of course.

You work incredibly super slowly because you're a perfectionist. I think I have cranked out at least six games in the time you've been working on Star Light Romance because I am not a perfectionist.

Seriously, if any of you really has a company, of any kind, with a bankroll (i.e. if you are out of high school and probably graduated college at least a few years ago, so you babies need not apply) please, please, please hire me! I was of course snarkily making fun of the idea of RPG Maker "companies" but you know, I was also being serious just in case a life changing miracle man is reading these forums.
You should make this advertisement in more communities Macgee, believe me, there are many folks wanting to pay someone to review or even write for their commercial indie games (though not as much as ppl hiring scripters and artists because anyone can claim to be a writer no matter how shitty they are, and offer free revisions, same can´t be said for scriting graphics :P).

Anyway, yeah, I am fucking perfectionist, was saying that to Blind earlier about my entry for Pixelart contest (I had to add a small projected shadow for the visor over the girl´s face).

But as much as you are learing to polish your games more I am learing how to work faster without screwing quality... or so I hope XD
Offtopic >.<: I'm in a randomly posting mood so...
Ontopic:I'm a 14-year old working by myself XD. I just use whatever I can use to make a game. Of course...I'm not perfect ::) oh well.
I work alone on my game from A to Z, but I have my testing team composed of 4 people, two of them having worked in professionnal testing. Now, I'm only paying them with cookies, but they don't complain with their wage.

I do sign my team-made stuff with a "company name" or such. Although it's mostly fun and games now, thanks to the fact that I have not yet the need to incorporate the name, we are gradually buying film equipment and looking forward to start a little media company by the end of our studies. Although our website is crappy and what we did so far is amateur-level, it's still a start. I guess you could say it's a way of creating a common basis for our small group, each contributing differently.

Hey Max and Clest, let's get back on topic here.

I used to have "team" names and such back when I was like 16. I suggest growing out of it.
