Cosplay

For those who don't know Cosplaying is the act of dressing up in costume, these costumes usually revolve around video game characters, and other media from Japan. Cosplaying sometimes condemned as a super nerdy thing, which I agree it seems, is usually really fun and you find out everyone likes to dress up in costumes.

So I have multiple dilemmas with this as well as trying to make my parent's understand about cosplaying and how it's fun, my mom generally gets it seeming it seems fun and my dad simply laughs. Also deciding what to cosplay is extremely addicting process in itself. Me and my other friend have decided to cosplay at a local convention coming around our city. We're confused though on what to do. So he suggessted "why don't you ask some guys on that site your always on, RMN?" and so it made me think about what you would say. So me and my friend are two males to clarify so what costumes you think would be a good idea to wear. I'll post some idea and you can say if you liked the ideas or even add your own. Also tell me about some of your experiences cosplaying. Was it fun? Where were you? Who were you were?

Zero and Megaman
Ness and Lucas
Ichigo and Ichigo Hollow Form
Naruto and Sasuke
Roxas and Sora
Organization XIII Members
Travis Touchdown and Henry from No More Heroes
The Chasers from Kingdom Hearts 2
Edward and Alp
Organization XIII Members
Travis Touchdown and Henry from No More Heroes

Those two are my Picks. If I did cosplay I would go as Travis.
Ness and Lucas if it's your first cosplay. Keep it simple - especially if you're making the costumes rather than eBaying some.

Megaman and Zero would rule but they'd be way too hard to make.

When I go to the next MCM Expo in May, I'll be cosplaying as a part of a Super Smash Brothers Brawl group, as Sonic. A very talented friend of mine is making the costume for me.

Only girls should cosplay, for obvious reasons.

Also, Organization XIII? Ugh.
I love cosplaying and no it isn't just for girls. I usually go cosplaying at anime expo's with my girlfriend who's obsessed with it as much as me. The characters we have been are,

Inuyasha and Kagome. (inuyasha)
Light and Misa. (death note)
Ichigo and Rukia. (Bleach)

The reason is not that obvious ... what is it?

Hm I not sure.... ^_^

EDIT: What about Link and Skull Kid with Majora's Mask?

Ness and Lucas thing sounds good and easy though to.
When my friend and I went, he was L and I was Light (both from Deathnote) and we had the long-chained handcuffs (I made them myself - cost ~$10 and took 5 minutes). We ran into liek 3 Misas and even another L & Light pair like us. lol It was a lot of fun, until my friend left me -_- He ran off with a ninja girl somewhere for teh last half of teh day
Luckily I ran into another friend there, so I wasn't just wandering alone XD

Cosplay frightens me sometimes!

There's some solid inspiration for you, Nick!
Cosplay is beyond me. I do not get the point of a bunch of people with questionable hygiene dressing in some anime guy's/girl's clothes.

I just don't get it.
Check out THIS ebay store. Even if you don't want to buy your costume, it will give you ideas.

Quoted for truth.

Only girls should cosplay as girls, for obvious reasons.

Fixed for emphasis.
I have cosplayed Aeris Gainsborough, Princess Zelda, and Salior Mars.

But I want to cosplay as Nakoruru!
Ima go Cosplay as Tifa :-*
j/k j/k ... just wanted to get you guys mad
Another cosplay convention is coming in less then a month but i'm not quite sure who i should go as. Anyone got any suggestions?
When I was at the Tokyo Game Show last year, the cosplay shit was intense. It was so hard not to stare, especially at some of the ladies' costumes.

I could never do it myself. Some of those dudes really pull it off, I couldn't. I pull off slacks and t-shirts and pull it off quite well.
Do the ppl who said they cosplayed have no photos or they just don´t want to show?

Well I cosplayed as Leon D.S.Greese from Star Ocean 2 four years ago. My problem with cosplaying is exactly that for the most part, I only like obscure things or obscure characters in popular things... so the chances of someone recognizing the character are usually low...
Anyway, me as Leon:

Anyway, for those guys complaining: I KNOW you guys want to cosplay as Sailormoon, maybe you even dress up at home, you are just afraid to admit it *brain damaged imagining Macgee and WIP dressed as schoolgirls* I hope... not o.o

Regarding what to cosplay Nick: I only know Megaman and Zero and Naruto and Sasuke from the list. From then only MM and Zero are really good, but hard to do. Don´t you have any other options? :P

I want to cosplay as Char Aznable someday, be it his Char´s counterattack version or his Zeta Gundam alter ego Quattro Bagina...

There's nothing to get. It's silly, and that's kind of the point of it.

And all geeks have questionable hygiene. It's not limited to cosplayers.
