OH CRAP. *HEADDESK* NAMING ISSUES

Yo.
I've decided to take a break from my main project to work on something small for the *trumpets blare* Release Something V! Because there's limited time to do this, I am going back to my first game making program, RPG Maker 2000. :D Also because all the resources I have collected for this project (I'm planning a NO RTP PROJECT for the first time, HOLY CRAP) work very well on 2000.
SO! I need to be able to have the player name each character. I searched on Google, as per the "google rule", and found a patch called rpg_rt. I thought my problems were solved. It says to install in the project folder to enable, and ...WHAT? Does this mean after I've finished the game itself, or now? I haven't been able to find where the damn program is installed as this computer is German and is mostly in German... so, what I'm asking is, is there a simple way of doing this?
I never was able to fix this problem the last time I used this extensively way back in the day of 2002, and it really puts a damper on my plans!
I'm extremely frustrated. I would like to get this up and running ASAP, as this is for that Release something V that everyone's going so nutty about.

Go onto Some RPG Maker patches you might like. Right click number 5 and choose save as.
:)
EDIT: Wait, didn't read your post properly, this is the same file you already downloaded. I downloaded it and extracted it. All that appeared was a HowTo file not in english and a RPG_RT. I assume you replace the new RPG_RT file in your project with the a new one. As far as I know there isn't an easier way, if you can't find the file, try again?
I have RM2k, my hero name function works fine, just tried it :/

My question is, really, once you find the project folder, then you just unzip it, then replace the file with the same exact name, and it should work?
After that, if you wanted to use character name in speech, I heard once you had to type 1 or something to that effect? I just need clarification on that one.
Thank you for your help!

Well I assume that's what you have to do. My Name function always worked fine without ever needing to fix it. You won't lose anything for trying.
Type \n For the first character on your list in the hero tab. Change it to a zero for the party leader.
It's no problem.

It took me a bit, but I found the project folder, and I'm testing out the naming thing right now.
Well, the "enter hero name screen" shows up, but is it supposed to make you put in two letters at a time?
EDIT: Nevermind. While it's a bit buggy, I've finally got it to work! Thank you so much!
You are free to close the thread! :D

I've created a version of it thats slightly less buggy, (keeps the way it takes two letters at a time, but shows them if only one is inputed) if you want it. I'm taking it that you have the more commonly spread Italian Hero Name Fix.
If you really wanted to get fancy, you could overhaul that screen altogether and just take input directly from the keyboard with DestinyPatch or something. It would take maybe an hour or two, but might be worth it...

This game is really short, I'm not sure if it would be worth it or not...
@GOG: Hey, I just went with what I could find. I'm in a rush, as this is for release something day coming up, and I want it to be completely done - if possible.
