I STILL LOVE RMN

this place is a big dead and archaic, but damn, if it isn't a warm goofy window into the internets of yore.
Agreed. I kinda miss when forums were big in general. RMN and the Spherical forums were my two main ones.

Same, ngl maybe this is my 30-year-old brain typing but the internet feels so boring now

really should do something about the ""joke"" domain but alas gamingworld.net now directs to something a bot on here would link to.

i do like idea of pivoting to spotlighting on creators and forum/culture preservation though
I would like to come to the forum more often but I'm often busy working on projects and stuff. But yeah I do find classic forums like this one to be more relaxed and chill compared to newer forms of social media like Twitter. I don't really get a sense of community on Twitter but when I come to the RMN forum it feels like a community.

Wasn't it always gamingw.net though? And that redirects to Salt World
I still love RMN too, I just feel like creativity is dying. It's an ever-kicked dead horse.

I honestly think it's the rise of more saturated bodies like itch.io and Steam that are causing the lot of us to wonder who we're game deving for. With the bar oh so lowered for entry and access to quality assets on the rise, it's a lot easier to get your hard earned release lost in the background.

...but the question is: Does RMN love you back?

Not you YOU in specific. In general terms.

i'm a real discord and twitter guy now BUT i still love RMN as my roots and a lot of my lifelong online friends were made here.

also you guys literally were the first guests on my podcast and i still see everyone on RMN out there and doing ya thing... so do know that even people you don't see here, we're interacting in RMN circles in the twitterverse or whatever

i honestly feel more a part of RMN than i ever was... i always felt like i was outside the clique but with discord communities etc i feel like i am slowly becoming the grizzled veterans i used to look up to.

anyways, that was a bit rambly but i still look out for you all! and i love still seeing everyone from here :)

Change is scary

I think at least part of the appeal for small forums like these (at least for me) is also that it's owned and operated (at least software-side, if not the hardware) by average users, not some giant corporation. The same reason why people tend to be more sympathetic towards small companies.

You know, I keep seeing this thread and I keep wondering, how can I ever stop loving RMN and why would anyone even think it?

You gave up game dev to make sure your kids could always get to hockey practice, and you're still making gam. You've mixed up average and giga-chad. You dropped your crown, King.
