LIMITATIONS

Limitations? Hmmm, that's hard to say. I'm a great mapper and I'm really good and constructing events and cutscenes. but as for limitations I guess I'd have to say custom systems and graphics, although I'm not sure these things are nescessary
Man I totally think I misinterpreted this topic.
Haha, I just relized i never posted,

By biggest set back is my shitty ability to map. I think I do fine in coming up with stories, but my lack of map making skills makes it so easy in my games that you go straight from point A to B is no time flat.
Mixing tiles from 3 or 4 different chipsets into one map.

If you aren't good at something and you aren't learning and it isn't catching on, just axe that feature from your game.
I'm bad at mapping...that's it! No more maps! Here comes the next big text adventure AAARGH

I'm limited to the point of incapability in the music/sound department. Luckily enough, I don't have to make my own music. I'm not that good at graphics/pixel art, and the bigger the picture, the more difficult it is for me to make. But, I'm getting better at that (at least, I think I am).

I can relate to this:

My limitations. Does perfectionism count? I pay too much attention to some insignificant things and thus makes my process much much slower.

No, but I'm talking about extremely long cutscenes that have "Move event" commands and "Pan Screen" / "Screentone" / "Wait xxx frames" and many more. You must watch these scenes over and over to get them perfect.

I don't think my mapping is terrible, but I have a really hard time getting motivated to make them. I could stare at a blank map all day and never come up with anything at all.

Other than that, I'm not all that limited in my game-making endeavors. Except my eternal battle with public relations...
If I could sprite then I'd feel limitless in terms of capabilities with RM2K3. If I was good at programming then it'd be even better. :P
Oh man. I actually have quite a bit. Well first off, I'm actually pretty decent at mapping EXCEPT for towns and cities. I can't stand making them for some odd reason. Also, I'm horrible with cutscenes and not that great with dialouge takes me forever to do properly (I usually get it right on the 20th or so readover.) And my worst weakness... Laziness. My game "Avian Legends" is probably around 0.3% done. If I weren't so goddamn lazy (and if my computer didn't crash) i'd probably be around 7%.
I have a lot of trouble coming up with interesting puzzle designs. I am not terribly clever anyway, and so trying to come up with something interesting for people to solve is tough for me.

Also, I am not the best coder, so that doesn't help when I figure out a puzzle I want to do and can't get it to work properly.
I have no coding abilities....at all....ever....lol..I want them but I just don't understand it and I really don't know where to find a place to learn it.

I am a great mapper but I hate big maps something about having to scroll back and forth just drives me insane.

I don't really know about design but if I tryed it I am pretty sure I could make it work.

I don't have a clue how to make custom music but I wish I did. ???

Zooming out helps a lot.

Plan everything. Keep physical notes and be sure you know exactly what you want your game to be before you even think about opening RM. This is why Oceanus died such a horrible painful death so early in its lifespan.

You mean inserting it into the game, or just making it? I have no musical talent either, to be honest. Which is a shame, because I value a good soundtrack over everything else except gameplay when it comes to games.

Actually . . .

When making an amateur game, you are well-advised to take note of your limitations and maybe design your game around them. You shouldn't throw yourself against the wall trying to remake Final Fantasy games or, more appropriately, The Way. Think about what you do good in game making and build your game to revolve around that.

My weakness is graphics. You can get people to download your game if your weaknesses are in other areas, but a weakness in graphics creates a huge hurdle to get a large segment of people to play your game.
I have yet another limitation I didn't seem to find until I tried Rm2k3 and RMXP.

First of all...http://www.rpgmaker.net/games/825/blog/
And if you don't really want to click this then here's a short comment: They both drive me crazy...So I can only use RMVX O_o
OMG YOU CAN ZOOM OUT :o LOL I AM OFFICIAL NOOB!!
I think I sum up my limitations to this...

My forte is visual aspects (constructing maps, cutscenes, and graphics)

While I'm good at programming events, my weak-point is things like character development, consistency, and I'm also very slopping with the database and switches; basically, I'm unorganized.
My limitation would be getting the game done, I have no problem with spriting, mapping, or overall game design. It's just getting it done, and coming up with a battle system is such a drag, that's why I like adventure battles...
Ideas mainly. I can code and make decent maps, and if I need sprites and chipsets I can usually find them online. As for edits, I can make minor ones on my own by pushing pixels around in paint, but I ask others for help with more advanced stuff (and people are nice so I usually get help ^^). So the problem for me is knowing WHAT TO DO; I suck at the whole designing process. Luckily a friend of mine does all the story for me nowadays, and he also makes small map blueprints on paper with notes on little tasks you have to perform in order to beat the map, thus I just go and map it out and code the stuff on it, problem solved. I'm like a mindless working ant or something.. ???

But my stories are always mediocre - not bad or good - mediocre. I'd say that's even worse.
Whose aren't?

Basically all of limitations pretty much come down to my short attention span.

I would like to say that mine aren't.

Ultimately, these days I feel most limited by two very different things. One of them is totally concrete, one of them is totally abstract.

1. RMVX's Tileset Structure. I HATE only being able to have like five tilesets. It is a HUGE step backwards from rm2k3 when I could have however many I wanted. Whose boneheaded fucking idea is this?
2. My own lack of creative/story ideas. These days I think of far more ideas for gameplay mechanics and items and skills than I do for stories and characters. This is a major change from my early career. I have become a "numbers guy". It is bizarre.
1. Perfectionism
2. Lack of ability to include both story and gameplay (only one... -_-)
3. Lack of ability to work on single project
