What are your inspirations for your games/game series? What common things connect them? Just wondering. As for mind, it's a looooong list with lots of very bizarre entries. Here is just a few of them, starting with the more basic inspirations.
Fire Emblem: I take a lot, and I mean a lot of inspiration from this series in particular. The lore in the Chronicles series is extremely similar to the lore found in the Fire Emblem games, namely the Arcanea Elibe sagas. The various "brands" that are found in my series are heavily inspired by the crests in FETH as well as the holy blood in FE4. Nargi is basicaly just Naga from Fire Emblem and Salamander was renamed to Valfa but serves basicaly the same purpose. The fell dragon Adonis is a direct expy of Medeus/Loptyr from Fire Emblem. "Dragonkin" are basiclly manaketes in all but name. The "dracorage" virus is basiclly dragon degeneration with more nuance. And finally, most notable of all, the planned "Chronicles IV" game is an almost 1-to-1 adaptation of the lore of the Elibe Saga, aka the Souring War. Idunn is the same Idunn from FE6, Devon is Hartmut, Xenoki is Braimond, Roland is the same Roland from Fire Emblem, Astos is the same, (tho the Astos in FE6/7 is revealed to be a perfect clone) Yazna is Jahn, and various other things. Along with that, "Ending D," one of the main enendings of Chronicles IV, leads directly into the events of Fire Emblem 6/7 with the post credits scene being an extended cut of the FE6 true ending. Lots of weapon concepts are also taken from Fire Emblem. Chronicles Origins 2 is pretty much a direct Fire Emblem clone.
Xenoblade Chronicles: Unique monsters/Tyrants will appear heavily in my future games which are inspired by Xenoblade. Along with that, the series possesses gnostic themes similar to Xenoblade. The gameplay of THE END OF CHRONICLES is partially inspired by Xenoblade X, the black sheep of the series.
Megami Tensei: The archfiends who appear in multiple games are partially inspired by the fiends from the Megami Tensei series. Along with that, the "press turn" battle system is used in multiple games in the series. The dungeon crawling found in Chaos Domain and it's sequel Boundless Domain is inspired by earlier megaten games which were first person dungeon crawlers. Finally, the game "Reflective Dreams" is heavily inspired by the Persona series in basicly every way.
Breath of Fire: The dragonkin in the series are partially inspired by the "brood" race found in this series. Koros' dragon transformation skills in Chronicles Meteorfall is also a direct reference to Breath of Fire, notably Breath of Fire 2. The fire area of the crypt in Crypt Challenge DX+ is also a direct reference to Breath of Fire 2, referencing the optional kitchen dungeon.
Final Fantasy: Multiple games in the series use the Octopath Traveler battle system. Some later games in the series will most likely use an HD-2D artstyle. The archfiends are also a reference to the fiends in Final Fantasy The Four Heroes of Light. Weapon concepts are also inspired from this series. Battle on the Big Bridge from FF5 is referenced in Chronicles Meteorfall and Chronicles 2. Summoners appear as a pseudo race (more like a sub-race) in my series similar to summoners being a race in FF9.
Terraria: A lot of my games are inspired by this iconic sandbox title. Kathunid is literally the moon lord/Cthulhu based on outdated Terraria lore and multiple weapon concepts are taken from the game. Cynthia is also partially based on the Lunatic Cultist from Terraria. Multiple songs in the C4 OST are remixes of fanmade royalty free Terraria songs, with proper credit of course. The secret final boss from C4 is also based on the ultra-tough Mutant superboss from the Forgo's Souls mod.
Mega Man: 333 is based on dreams I had about Mega Man X5 where the game was a lot more intense and also time based like Majora's Mask. Chronicles Rebellion and R2 is also inspired by the Mega Man ZX series, but actually good. (lol get rekt) The true final boss of Chronicles IV is also inspired by the final battle of Mega Man Zero 4 with the strict time limit and "falling down" theme.
Radiant Historia: Kairos and his two assistants, as well as the lore surrounding them, is based on Radiant Historia.
Metal Gear, Sonic Frontiers, & Spark the Electric Jester: The gameplay and music of THE END OF CHRONICLES is partially inspired by this game. Sonic Frontiers and the Spark the Electric Jester series also inspired the game's OST, namely the boss themes.
Pokemon & Dragon Quest: My first three games (Memoria Collection) were basically Pokemon with the set up of a typical dragon quest game. Instead of getting your starter, you got a sword and a shield and go on an adventure to kill monsters and stuff because that's what everyone does at that age.
Now, for the truly weird stuff I got inspiration from, starting from least weird to most weird.
Stardew Valley: Yes, you heard that right. The popular farming sim Stardew Valley. The chronicles series as a whole takes place in the same world, but a wildly different timeline. References include both optional dungeons in Chronicles Meteorfall reference Stardew Valley, namely the bonus dungeon also named Skull Cavern. Feral Junimos appear as enemies in Chronicles IV in the "Nostra Deepwoods" area as well.
Ninjago Masters of Spinjitsu & Wings of Fire: Lady Battlewinner is inspired by the character of the same name from Wings of Fire, except that my Battlewinner is female and a homoculus, not a black dragon. The Legend of Light exclusive character from the Memoria Tales collection, Shogun Zed, is also inspired heavily by Samurai X from Ninjago.
Dragonvale: If you didn't know, Dragonvale is some old-ass mobile simulation game where you run a dragon-themed theme park. It heavily focuses on dragon breeding and is very grindy. I played it a lot as a kid, and therefore took a lot from it especially in my earlier games. Kairos is inspired by the dragon of the same name in Dragonvale, which is especially reflected in his dragon form's design.
Power Rangers/Super Sentai: The "Sexy Rangers" secret boss in Boundless Domain is a reference to Power Rangers, as well as their master the Overlord-type monster "Perverse Zoedia."
H20 Just Add Water: Some crappy Australian live action show from the 90s/00s where a bunch of girls turn into mermaids when they touch water and have to hide it from everyone. It was turned into a mid netflix anime later on, but due to the premise resonating with me for some... personal reasons, I really ended up liking the show. Don't judge! I just really like mermaids and transformation themes... Anyways I made the plot of "Chronicles VR: Abyssal Song" which will be a full sense/full dive first person VR game where you play as a guy who transforms into a mermaid basally H20 meets majora's mask. Yes, I really went there. Mermaid lore is also partially based on the series mixed with the original little mermaid and homebrew DnD lore.
Hentai: Yes, it's as weird as it sounds. Multiple subplots are taken from hentai, primarily the incredibly dark subplot surrounding the "Tzga Order," a organization of wicked gods who seek to plunge all of reality into "chaos." And by "chaos", I mean sexual deviancy (for the record I'm not talking about LGBT people, those people are cool and you would know that if you played my games. I'm very supportive) oppression, and suffering. The "Downtown Eternia Sidequest" in Chronicles Meteorfall directly references a famous NFSW transformation comic that I won't link or mention the name of here for obvious reasons. All the Tzga Order members are based on DeviantArt users who make NSFW art, with the "higher order" being the more sadistic and mean-spirited ones and the "lower order" being artists who make more wholesome content. The Nightmare Route of Boundless Domain also heavily involves the Order and their dark ambitions.
Geronimo Stilton: This final one, and this one gets absolutely insane. Geronimo Stilton? That silly lighthearted french book series for kids about a mouse who goes on all sorts of wacky, zany adventures? Yes, that. Blue from Chronicles 3 (and it's old version Dragon Ascension) and Azul from multiple games are directly from Geranimo Stiltons's "World of Fantasy" sub-series. I'm pretty sure Sterling Snow, another GS character from WoF, also appears in some early pre-CoC game in my series but IDK. Crazy, right?
Yeah, those are the references, some from the obvious to the absolutely absurd. But hey, that's the fun of the human brain, who knows what crazy things it will come up with next. Anyways, what are your inspirations, what series to you get inspiration from for your own games? Comment down below!

My inspiration is a mixture of videogames and anime. No specific anime I'd say, but anime because I find that from the anime I've watched, they usually have a nicely built world and a solid overarching plot. As for games, my main inspiration are the few JRPGs I played on the PS1, like Wild Arms and Alundra, and some more modern games, like Skyrim and Witcher 3. Gothic 1-3 has also been a little of an inspiration, but mostly just in the "possible ideas" department, because the level of freedom that Gothic gives you is something I'm a little scared to try and tackle in a game of my own. Survival horror games have also been a huge influence, specially Resident Evil 1, as well as a plethora of RPG Maker horror games, like Ao Oni, Purgatory, Dreaming Mary, Shadow Keeper and a bunch more that don't come to mind right now. In general, pretty varied, but nowhere near as varied as your inspirations KrimsonKatt.
