WHAT VIDEOGAMES ARE YOU PLAYING RIGHT NOW?
Posts
Decided to try Sonic and the Secret Rings today.
Holy shit, like, holy shit. I don't think I've ever played a Wii game that was that bad. The controls were clunky and unintuitive, and the whole thing's difficult to the point of frustrating. Thank god Sonic Colors exists on the same platform.

I'm playing non-stop Hearthstone right now. I just love Yugioh, MTG, Pokemon TCG stuff and this one totally charmed me ;_;
I have to admit, I'm getting really fucking fed up with Ni no Kuni. Don't get me wrong, it's a good game, but for god sake it needs to tone down the fucking difficulty. I'm playing on easy mode and it's unrelenting. It doesn't help that changing your familiars even once means that you have to spend the next 80 fucking hours grinding them up, only to metamorph them back into level fucking 1 in order to make them stronger (seriously, that is an awful decision that I can't wrap myself around).
It just really annoys me, because I can't get my head around forming a balanced group of familiars in this game. I feel like it's constantly overloading me with information or something. I don't know, I'm up to Hamelin now (and getting cockblocked by Porco Grosso since I'm underleveled) and the game is starting to feel seriously messy.
Am I just bad at RPGs or something? I thought I was at least okay at them but this game is making me feel like a goddamn moron.

I recently started playing it on the normal difficulty, and it is a touch more difficult than I was expecting given the general aim of the game, so it's probably not just you.
Loadout.
It's fun, but I feel like it's heavily dependent on how OP your weapon is at times. Gets frustrating.

Just completed Assassin's Creed 4 and working my way through Hotline Miami as I wait for my copy of Bravely Default to arrive in the mail.
Have you been doing all the sidequests? You literally have to do *all* of them. They make all the difference between making the game impossible and making it a complete breeze. Yeah, it's pretty unbalanced.

Fack, I was only doing like 3/4 of the troubles and bounties and shit. Also, my friend advised that I shouldn't metamorph my familiars right away- she was doing them one at a time and just letting them get more moves at lower stages.
To be honest, I'm just shelving it for now. I recently bought 9 PS1 titles on the PSN so I'll have a lot to go through. That being said, I'm playing MediEvil and Alundra now.
In addition to my ever so slow completion of M&L: Dream Team.

There were only several bosses that gave me trouble in Ni No Kuni. Other than that, I thought the game was fairly decent in terms of difficulty! I played on normal, mind you; if you're having trouble now, then you may break your TV and/or controller if you make it to the final boss. =P
I never did all of the errands, but tackled a good chunk of the bounties as they were thrown at me; never did I really have to grind, however. I just picked out whatever familiars looked cool, then progressed normally through the game. And speaking of familiars, it is most wise to only upgrade them one at a time and never leave yourself with a team full of just-evolved party members.
The tips I can offer you are:
-Be quick with All-Out Defense! It can be a real life saver.
-Try to keep up-to-date with equipment for your most used familiars.
-Keep an eye on elemental weaknesses!
-DON'T EVOLVE ALL OF YOUR FAMILIARS AT ONCE!!!
-Attempt to tackle most of the bounty hunts as they appear.
-Try to always keep track of an enemy's placement on the battlefield and how it moves, etc. prior to unleashing a devastating spell or ability; position yourself out of harms way when possible.
Also, for Porco Grosso, take with you a familiar that knows some decent Storm-based tricks; the boss is resistant to physical attacks and it will take you a while to whittle its HP down that way.
Leveling up becomes an absolute BREEZE once you happen upon some Toko Tokos. You could probably find them now, actually; they're on Ugly Duckling Isle behind (to the northwest, I think...?) Hamelin.
Other than that, I can only wish you luck and hope things improve from here!

I'm playing Bravely Default, Final Fantasy XIII, and Final Fantasy XIII-2
yes, at the same time
and I am further through 13-2 than I am with 13
(I bought and played 13-2 without finishing 13 first, but I won't do that with Lightning Returns, so I'm going to finish 13-2 and then unwrap and play my Lightning Returns :) )

Clickr (again).
The later levels are reeeeally difficult, surprisingly. It's such a simple game at first.

Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen. Why did I wait so long to get this game. I was put off by the demo when I tried it some time back, but I got it anyways, and boy am I glad I did. The pawns' constant chatter can get repetitive (they are weak to fire master!... I KNOW, i killed hundreds of them), but I feel like it actually adds to the game at other times. And the combat is pretty sweet. Trying to get back to a safe area after night falls is sweet. I like the way that night is actually NIGHT, dark and dangerous, with basically no visibility. The game has an awesome atmosphere thanks to this, especially in dungeons.
Also, the game is pretty HARD. I am not that far in, but even normal bandit packs can sometimes overwhelm me and kill me.
There are some issues with the game (like Capcom slamming DLC advertisments in yo face, which pisses me off so much), but so far I am finding it hard to put the game down.
Also finished Darksiders yesterday, I can't believe I didn't pick this game up sooner, as with DD:DA. So much style, great combat, great exploration+puzzles and no unnecessary BUTTON MASHING QUICKTIMES (I am looking at you, GoW)... I think it might be my favourite game from the God of War vein. Though really, I loved all of them, Dante's Inferno, GoW 1-3, Darksiders and similar games in general.

Just finished Xanadu Next the other day. It's pretty old (since 2005) even though it's a remake of the very very old Xanadu game back in 1983. It's a very interesting mix of JRPG and WRPG/ARPG elements and if you're sharp enough you can clearly see the influence coming from Falcom other core series Ys.
I recommend it if you're looking for a Japanese RPG with ARPG elements. The playtime isn't too long. It's beatable in only about 6-7 hours and the game isn't too hard.

Playing Virtue's Last Reward and loving it even more than the prequel. About 8 hours in and every single text box so far has kept me interested. If you want an example of a game with good writing - actually, hell, if you want an example of good writing period, this is it.
