WHAT VIDEOGAMES ARE YOU PLAYING RIGHT NOW?
Posts
I'm currently playing Grand Theft Auto 4, for the first time actually playing through the game, and not going on killing sprees when I randomly pick up the controller at someone else's house.
As a GTA fan, I love this game. Its characterization, pacing, and plot is as good as, if not better than many RPGs (which isn't new for GTA, really), and GTA4's Liberty City's accuracy as a fictional recreation of New York City is staggering.
I knew it was the game for me when I heard Ginuwine's '"Pony" in a strip club.
(If anyone comments in reply please don't spoil anything)

Why don't you import? The DS is region-free, and US retailers sell games for about half the price of UK retailers.
Oh, I didn't mean particularly that i was waiting for something that had already been released in America to come over here.
I just kind of meant i was waiting for something.
Should have been more specific, heheh.
The thing for me for GTA games is that I get far too distracted putzing around, stealing cars and shooting things up to progress the story. Eventually I get bored of that so try out the "story mode", realize that it wasn't as fun as just putzing around was (at least initially) and give it up, never to play it again.
yeah MOG, I am really enjoying GTAIV too. it's never going to replace vice city in enjoyment for me partly because of nostalgia factor and partly because of 80s magic but it is still a really solid title. electrochoc forever

A lot of people are like that.
I grew up watching crime movies like Goodfellas, Menace 2 Society, Casino, and all types of 'criminal' movies of all sorts, so I can really appreciate the plotlines that GTA has to offer. Like I said, better than many RPGs!

Yeah, Vice City nailed the 80s glam. My sister just got it for the first time and its pretty crazy how they got that pastel, glam rock feel going down. I wish they continued the trend and made a next gen GTA Vice City title.

i would be erect for the lifespan of the universe
God of War
I'm trying to get my hands on God of War 2 (it's not that hard, I just don't have the time), but in the meanwhile I play the first one on god mode (finished it on normal). It's pretty hard but I think only the battles difficulty change.

A stupid amount of games because I decided that participating in three different gaming fests at the same time was a good idea.
But at this most recent junction, I'd say it's a toss up between The Conduit, and Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier.

I was sitting on some credit at the Playstation store, so I downloaded Biohazard 2 and am playing that now on the PSP.
However, if I sat on it one day longer, I'd be playing Vagrant Story, which was just released today. Grrrr.

So I bought new credit for the PSN, and bought Vagrant Story tonight.
I have zero willpower. Oh well, it's fun playing it.

Seiken Densetsu 3. I like the battle system, storyline's not doing it for me though. I know it's an old RPG, but I thought by 1995 we'd have advanced beyond princesses and sealing magic in stones. Maybe I'm just missing the appeal though. It's also got a nice time system, which goes by the week I think - Different types of attacks are more powerful on certain days sorta thing.
SD3 is nice because of the replayability, so says my roommate. You can choose certain classes, then from there either become light or dark. Of course you also get to choose your party which is pretty cool. I just never got too far with it.
I'm playing the hell out of beatmania IIDX (us). I don't really play RPGs too much anymore. :(

I've only clocked around an hour on it so far so I've not come across much yet. The bosses are supposed to be epic though.
I actually just started to properly play Halo 3 after owning it for ages and I'm getting alright at it. It's actually a real blast online and I cannot believe how funny it can be listening to people via headsets. I'm not the biggest FPS fan, but I can play a few 2 hour + sessions without getting bored.
Anyone else play a bit of online Halo 3?

I would if:
a) I owned it.
b) I had a live subscription.
c) I had decent wifi/long ethernet cord, since my PC is all the way across the room from my Xbox.
Now I wouldn't play that much, but it would give me something to do when I'm not occupied like usual.
Myself, I'm playing through Pokemon Platinum. With any luck I'll be finished before Heart Gold comes out.
Probably gonna pick up Chrono Cross again too.
Also I started up a new file on Fallout 3, my third one since getting it. Last I remember I was getting fed up with hopelessly trying to play it with melee weapons.

Playing through KH1&2. Loads of fun just for the cutscenes, but they both seem to suffer from dramatic EASINESS. Ah well.
