Dragon Fantasy III: Dawn Of Queens
This is the script for I've been working on for Dragon Fantasy III. Instead of a game, this one is just going to become a script. Maybe a real game eventually (RPG Maker, etc)? Eh. There is a very low possibility. I'm having loads more fun just writing it.
Think of it as a sort of Castlevania-esque game. The newer ones. You know; Dawn of Sorrow; Order of Ecclesia; Symphony of The Night, etc. It's like a side-scroller RPG. Just picture it that way!
Thank you!
Good bye! Read more! Down thar!
Story:
It has been 300 years since the destruction of the Goddess Of Darkness. As Celes was felled by the blade of the legendary Hero, Venaitura crumbled and with it so did the Dark World. Monsters ceased to exist within the World Of Light, and peace reigned supreme among mortals. What little Demons were left within the Light World were given protection via the power of the Great Sages, and through this they were slowly but surely eased into the populace of the world. Humans came to accept them, all in fear of another incident similar to that of the coming of darkness. With the instinct of the demon sealed by the might of the Sages, Demons were given freedom and peace, and were allowed to live as equals beside humans. Thus began a new age.
However, soon this age of acceptance began to crumble. As the Great Sages grew older, they passed on, one after the other. In their wake they stationed younger, more powerful mages who had been studying under them since the downfall of Xyan. The Holy One had found another to study under him in place of Xyan; A young, blond haired man bearing bright green eyes. He held great holy powers, and wasâ€"in the mind of the Holy Oneâ€"the perfect replacement for him once he had passed on. Though sad to say, this choice was a grand mistake, and through making it the Holy One jeopardized the lives of countless creatures.
Though holding the power of a saint, this new leader of the Sages viewed the world through corrupted eyes. He held humans in high regard, and felt as though demons were to be tossed away as garbage. They were a stain upon his holy earth, and he was to rid of their presence through force.
The Demon folk had long since multiplied into the millions, and soon rivaled the human in numbers. They had forged their own country's, cities, and towns, and even lived among the side of the world occupied mostly by humans. You see, many years prior to the death of the Great Sages (all of whom had lived over the age of 250; The Holy One nearing 300) the demons had moved to new lands unknown by humans. They sailed there via boat and airship alike, and soon began a thriving new land which welcomed any humans whom wished to travel upon their soil. As the years passed, they flourished and became a great country of their own. They traded their wares with humans, and though a majority of them lived apart from one-and-other, they had all treated each other with respect.
The new Holy One had gathered a plethora of followers who had the same views as him; people who had been too afraid to voice their opinions during the rule of the former sages. And as his forces grew, he forged himself a great army with soldiers numbering in the thousands. Via his military's might, he forced those who did not wish to be involved to join his ever-growing empire, and threatened to end their lives if they did not serve him. Of course, the other Sages had long since vanishedâ€"dealt with by the Holy One in fear of them opposing his will. Thus a great war began: A war against the entire Demon race. A war that would end all wars.
This bloodshed, this hatred, and this unbearable intolerance that the Demons and Humans now had for one and other birthed a great darkness. Upon the field which the war was fought a gateway appeared, and from it sprung the legendary castle of the Dark Goddess: Venaitura. Their blood-curdling cries and moans for salvation brought upon the rebirth of the dreaded castle, and with it the beginning of the Holy Ones plan.
Main Characters:
Luon Mayfes
Age: 17
Gender: Male.
Beginning Weapon: Dark Magic. (Black Energy Blades)
History: A young demon who awoke within the depths of Venaitura. Guided by a light, he must conquer the castle and return it to the Dark World. Thus is his duty.
Ball of Light
Age: ?
Gender: ?
Beginning Weapon: ?
History: A ball of holy light that appeared before Luon when he awakened within Venaitura. It acts as his guide through the castle.
The Holy One
Age: 30
Gender: Male.
History: The one who began the war of Demons and Humans, and who plotted the resurrection of the dark castle Venaitura. He now rests within the throne room of the Castle, acting as its new ruler.
The Main Story:
--Level 1: Venaitura: Floor Of Resurrection.--
Luon is laying on the floor, a giant flower-like object (looks like a closed flower with a hole in the side of it) behind him. It is attached to the wall, and it's insides are spilling out on to the area Luon is laying. They resemble human organs, though hold to more organic features.
Luon: Agh...ah...my head.
Luon pushes himself to his hands and knees
Luon: My...whole body just hurts... Shit...
Luon pushes himself to his feet, and then stands for a moment before being taken back in suprise.
Luon: W-what the hell...!? Where am I? What's this? What the hell is with this crap all over me!? Ah!
Voice: You're awake. I was beginning to wonder when you'd finally wake up.
Luon: Who's there!?
Voice: Hey! Calm down. There is no need to yell, I can hear you perfectly fine.'
Luon: I don't care if you can hear me or not! Who are you? And...WHERE are you? Come out! This place is bad enough as is! If this is a joke, then it's gone too far!
Voice: Oh my... Well, I suppose it's to be expected. You HAVE just woken up and all. (Sigh) But no matter, you will be wide awake soon enough! Well...if you want to survive this little ordeal, that is! He he. Oop...
Luon: W-what~!? Survive!? What do you mean by that!?
Voice: I suppose I'd best show myself to you before saying anything else. It might make things a bit easier on you. No, wait...actually...
Luon: Just get out here!
Voice: Okay then! But you'd best believe your eyes!
A small ball of light forms before Luon, illuminating the dark room in a soft glow.
Voice: Here I am! As you've requested.
Luon: W-wha...? What? I can't see you. Where the hell!? There's no you, there's just a little light!
Voice: See, that's why I told you to BELIEVE YOUR EYES! Not that it really had anything to do with it. Should have said that you should be more open minded or something. But it's too late now! I AM the light.
Luon: What...?
Voice: I'm the light. I'm standing in front of you.
Luon: What!? That CAN'T be it!
Voice: I'm not repeating myself. But...I have the feeling that I HAVE to. Look: I'm the light! Look! Woo!
The light starts to circle Luon and move randomly around the room.
Voice: There, happy? Look, let's just stop with this nonsense and get on with the serious stuff. There will be soldiers here before long, and we need to be ready!
Luon: Everything you say...why does it all sound like one big lie!? Light? Soldiers? And where am I!? This is all a big dream! When I wake up, I'll be home in bed like...
Voice: Like? Like you were before you came here, right?
Luon: Wait...I wasn't...home. I died. Or...did I? What...!? This...! This is Hell! I've died and gone to hell! What in god's name did I do!?
Voice: Oh for the love of... No! You're not in hell, and you didn't die. Well...you did, but not really. You were absorbed in to Venaitura when you died, and it resurrected you! So you should feel lucky and thankful!
Luon: So then...this is Venaitura? The castle of the God of Darkness? That thing my aunt told me about when I was little? It all...just seemed like one big dream. But I remember now...or...at least I THINK I remember. I was in the war... I thought I was doing good, but then there was this sharp pain and...here I am. So I died then? And then the tower absorbed my body? But...WHY? None of this crap makes any sense to me!
Voice: Who WOULD it make sense to, honestly? Look, Whether you believe any of what I've told you or not is irrelevant. Just know that what you're now experiencing is real, and that if you don't get your ass in gear you'll have no chance of ever going back to the outer world. The Holy One has taken hold of Venaitura, and is going to use it to bring an end to the demon race.
Luon: I....don't really care about any of that now. I know it sounds all important and all that jazz, but I'm more concerned with me. If I live, then everything is okay, right?
Voice: ...
Luon: Wrong? Well then, screw what you think! It's right to me, and that's all that matters. So what were you saying about never being able to leave?
Voice: Ugh. Okay then, I'll go with it for now! But I don't think I'll be able to put up with this through the whole trip out. But for now...fine! Sure, whatever. Anyway, What I was previously saying was this: If you die in here, you're erased completely from existence. There will be no heaven or hell, only nothing! And, well...since I'm like this, I can't do well against the bigger things in here. I'll be able to help you as long as you help me. If you reach the top, we'll both be able to get out! Sound good?
Luon: So if I die in here...there's no second chance? Er...third?
Voice: Nope.
Luon: Okay, okay. Deep breath...~! So we have to get to the top, right? And how do we do that? If this is the great Venaitura, I doubt it will be a walk in the park. It'll be anything BUT if anything at all!
Voice: You're right about that one. Well, look: When you were reborn in here your demon powers were released. The former Holy One sealed the dark power within the demon race, but now that you're in here you're able to use it! How's that for luck? And it's one of the only few good things, so be thankful. As a demon, the more things you kill the stronger you'll get. And if we become partners, the stronger YOU get, the stronger I'LL get in return! And when I do, I'll be able to help you out when you're in a pinch!
Luon: Sounds awesome! So I have all of these dark power now, huh? And I've always had them? That sounds pretty cool. So are we gonna go, or stand around here all day?
Voice: Any time you're ready!
Luon: Okay th- Wait!
Voice: What now?
Luon: What's your name? I never got it, and I don't think you got mine, either. So allow me to be a gentleman for once in my life and introduce myself: The name is Luon. Luon Mayfes. And if we're to be partners until we get out, I thought it'd be good to know one and others names.
Voice: Ha ha... Never thought you'd ask, really. My name is Eria. There's not much to me, I know, but I can be a great help.
Luon: Never said that you wouldn't be! A little ball like you has to have some kind of useful stuff stashed away. Great holy magic, energy blasts; The whole shebang!
Eria: Er...yeah. Anywhoo, let's get a move on.
Luon: Right.
*Eria flies in to Luon and he exists the room*

(Part B coming up.)
Har. Yeah, but I wanted to write, and it had to be something simple and easy to work with. Then Dragon Fantasy popped in to mind! Everything was already there, and all I had to do was use it to build the beginning of this little...thingy I've got going here.
Or I could have just changed the names of the people and places, and it would've been an original story! But eh. This is now...Dragon Fantasy III! For the time being, anyway. >_>
Or I could have just changed the names of the people and places, and it would've been an original story! But eh. This is now...Dragon Fantasy III! For the time being, anyway. >_>
--Level 0: Basement: Hallway.--
There is an enemy soldier standing before Luon. It is undead, and plant life is growing from it's mangled flesh.
Eria: There! A soldier!
Luon: What!? That's one of them soldiers you were talking about? But...he doesn't look all that lively, if you know what I mean. Doesn't really seem to be too focused on us.
Eria: Gah. Doesn't matter! It's because he hasn't noticed you yet, and that's a good thing! When you kill an enemy like that soldier, it may release its magical energy, and I'll be able to absorb it. When I do, I'll gain some nifty abilities especially designed for that enemies magical energy! And because we're connected, my abilities become your abilities!
Luon: Connected!? Wait, what? Since when? I don't remember doing any connecting.
Eria: Ever since you agreed to partner up! You're telling me you didn't notice it?
Luon: Well...now that you bring it up, I have been feeling a tad...tingly. Sort of like a warm, comforting feeling. Feels good. But then there is the partnering up part...I never really agreed to that, either!
Eria: Wait...yes you did! You said we'd go together!
Luon: But not in any kind of specific “yes†or “no†way!
Eria: Look, just kill the damn thing and get it over with! We're connected, you can use my power, and that's it! Okay? So let's roll!
--After Battle--
Luon: So what are all these soldiers doing in here?
Eria: Well, the Holy One brought them with him as backup when he first entered the castle. Heh. Too bad for him, though! Nothing other than Demons and those with decent amounts of Holy Power can stay alive within Venaitura for more than a few seconds.
Luon: Uh huh. So I guess that's just another tad bit of luck on my part, then?
Eria: Indeed it is. Well...it really depends. Not many people would actually want to be alive after being in here. Besides, it's doubtful that the natural residence would want them in here, anyway!
Luon: What!? There's MORE in here besides that Holy fella and those soldiers!?
Eria: Er...well it IS the castle of the God of Darkness. What'd you expect? And I told you that we'd meet more than the guards back in the other room!
Luon: No you never! You just said that there are some things that are “too bigâ€! I'd expect just a big fat soldier or something!
Eria: Okay, I'm not that useless. But yes, there are more things lurking in here than undead soldiers.
Luon: Ugh...
Eria: We're not getting any younger, you know.
Luon: God damn it! Okay! Let's go, then! The quicker I get out of here the better.
--Level 1: Waterway Entrance--
Luon: Uh...I've got the feeling that we're going DOWN rather than UP. And...yeah, I don't think we're supposed to be doing that.
Eria: That's just how this castle was built. Er...wait, no...
Luon: What now? You know, I've got the feeling that you know a lot that you're not telling me.
Eria: Hey! I'll tell you whenever I find the need to, okay!? If you had time to sit there and listen to me for a good few hours then sure, maybe I would. But you don't, do you?
Luon: Okay, okay! Jeez. Calm down, would ya? It was only a simple question.
Eria: (Sigh) Anyway, back to what I was saying; See, Venaitura changes its structure every time it is forged. The only real thing that stays the same is the Throne Room. It hardly ever makes its self simple, and you usually have to go down to go up, and vice-versa. Confusing, I know...but I can't do anything about it! So it's no use complaining to me.
Luon: Huh. Well, I need someone to complain to. So you're saying that we need to go deeper in to the castle to actually get anywhere?
Eria: Basically.
Luon: It's NEVER simple. Ugh...
Eria: (Sigh)
--Level 1: Waterway: Room of Waste--
Both Eria and Luon make their way in to the large, open room. There is a dark, putrid gas hanging in the air, which in turn is only matched by the blood-stained, slime-ridden walls. There are pieces of human remains and trash all over.
Luon: Uh...ha...ha...oh god, my legs...hurt so ba- Oh my god...!!! What the hell is that smell!? Sweet lord...it STINKS in here!
Eria: He he he...well it's a good thing I can't smell it, then. Must be pretty bad.
Luon: (Coughing) Ah...ah...!!! Where are we!? And what in gods name is that stench? Gah...no, let's just go! No questions in here!
Luon walks forward, but jumps back as a dart it thrown at his feet.
Luon: The hell?
Mysterious Voice: Ho ho...looks like a few survived. I wish that damn thing would stop slacking off.
A tall, slim man bearing straight, shoulder-length hair appears. He is wearing an assembly of tightly worn robes of black.
Luon: So who're you? Another one of that Holy...Holy whats-his-names troops? You seem pretty non-dead if you are. Get lucky or something?
Mysterious Man: What...? What in the world are you going on with? I'm Riffles, one of the Guardians of Venaitura. Myself and three others patrol the makings of the tower, searching it for pests like you. And you...you don't seem to be in any kind of hard condition, so you must have only arrived here recently, yes?
Luon: R-Riffles? Pfft...ha ha ha ha! What kind of name is that!? Ha ha ha ha ha!!!
Riffles: Gah! W-what!? Grr...!!! It is a fine name, thank you very much!
Eria: Riffles? Wait, so where are the other two?
Riffles: Hm? The other two guardians happen to be sleeping at this time. I just happen to be less lazy than those two, and decided to wander the castle to pass my time. It's just by coincidence that I happened to run in to you two.
Luon: Ha...so wait, what do you mean by us only “recently arriving Are there other people in here, too?
Riffles: He he he...if you wish to call them that, sure. You could say that there are other people here.
Luon: Huh...?
Riffles: You're now in the Room of Waste. The home of the Devourer. Anything that is deemed waste by the castle is brought here, where it is disposed of by its “Cleaner.â€
Luon: W-what!? So then...that smell...? Ugh... God! No! My nose...ugh!
Riffles: Hya ha ha ha! Have you never taken a whiff of rotten flesh, boy? Heh. It was the craze back when I was a wee Demon. Kids these days are spoiled rotten...
The room begins to shake, and a terrifying shriek fills the air.
Riffles: Oh ho! A little late, but that doesn't matter. I'd love to stay and chat, as you've been great entertainment...but I didn't plan on being eaten any time soon. I just wish that you could have lived a little longer.
Riffles vanishes in a haze of black smoke.
Luon: Shit...! Shit, shit, shit! What's going on!?
Eria: What're you freaking out for if you don't know what's happening!?
Luon: Because I just know that it's bad! Everything he just said hinted at us dying!
Eria: Oh...really? I hadn't noticed.
A massive, worm-like creature emerges from the ceiling. The doors are blocked by it's tentacles, which extend down from the side of the walls to act as barricades.
Luon: So...THIS must be one of those big things you were referring to, huh?
Eria: Uh-huh. I didn't actually think we'd meet one so soon, though.
Luon: Then we'll just kill it and be on our way! I'm getting' out of here, regardless of Whether or not any piece of worm shit wants to say otherwise!
(A battle occurs against the DEVOURER. After winning, it's tentacles subside and you are gifted with the Orb of Slime. It helps you to walk up certain walls, and to stick to any floors surface.)
Luon: (Pant) (Pant) Ha...ha...ha...look, see...? Th-there...it's...it's dead.
Eria: And it looks like you soon will be, too.
Luon: (Pant) (Pant) Well...excuse me...for not being a floating turd! I...I did all of the work!
Eria: A what!? You're just jealous, you bastard!
Eria begins to ram her self in to Luon's head.
Luon: Ow! Ow! Ow!!! Okay, okay! Fine! Let's just go!
Eria: He he he.
Luon: Damn little pixie...
Eria: What was that!?
Luon: Nothing! Nothing!
Luon and Eria continue out of the room
(Part C coming soon.)

Luon: Damn little pixie...

Luon and Eria continue out of the room
(Part C coming soon.)
--Level ?: Venaitura: Guardians Chamber--
Once Luon and Eria board the elevator to go to the next floor of the castle, the scene switches to that of the three Guardians within their main chamber high atop the castle. Dark clouds spiral around their chamber outside, discharging bolts of lightning and thunderous claps of thunder every once and a while. Riffles appears at the end of the room, standing near the doorway.
Riffles: Ah...ah...achoo! Oh...what a time to catch a cold.
Mysterious Voice: Chyaaa.....CHYA CHYA CHYA! L-l-look who haaaaaas decided to F-F-F-FINALLY show UP. Ennnnnnjoy your Waa...waalk?
Riffles: Huh? Oh. Oh ho ho ho! One to talk. You were sleeping for the entire morning! What's wrong with you!?
Walking from the right-side of the room to the left where Riffles is comes Corbeink; A tall, lanky man with arms extending to the ground, ending with clawed fingers steeped in blood. He has messy hair, and skin which appears to be both rotting and randomly placed all around his body. It's blotchy, and sewn loosely together with string.
Mysterious Man: UNNNlike...yourself, I-I-I....I would rATHER spend MY t-t-tiiiime sleeping tha-than wandering...wandering this CASTLE.
Riffles: Ho ho...but time spent searching is time used wisely. By the way, Corbeink, where is Shadow?
Corbeink: WIIIISELY in-indeed... And...Shadow IS ssssstiiiil sleep-
Mysterious Voice: I have also awoken from my slumber.
The other, The Shadow Master, is a tall man clad in armor deepest black. He wears a helmet atop his head resembling the face of a dragon, with horns extending back from the side of his head similar to that of the Devils. He also approaches the two from the right-side of the room. The floor shakes as he walks, and the room becomes cast into shadows.
Riffles: Aha! Good, good! Now I don't have to send 'ol Corby here to go and wake you up. You see, I have a tid bit of information I need to share with you.
Corbeink: Waaaaaiiiiit...!!! W-w-WHY is it that YOU c-c-can...can NOT share...share this INFOOOOORMATION w-w-w-w-with...ME? Yoou woULD-
Shadow: Quiet, Corbeink. Let Riffles speak. Your bickering can wait for another time. However, if he has something important to inform us of, then he holds the rite of first speech. Go ahead...
Riffles: Ku ku ku...why thank you. Anyway, as I was saying... I ran in to an interesting pair within the lowest section of the Castle.
Shadow: Ho?
Corbeink: The....the ROOM OOOOF the DE-devourer! A r-r-room of WASTE. How...HOW is it thaaaaat they are not MERELY D-D-DEMONS who haaaaaave mana..mana...managed to GET THEMSELVES in to T-T-THE sewers?
Riffles: At first, I thought that they could have been. However, they were in much too good a shape to have been mere waste of the castle. They were...something else. I felt a strange energy around them. Yes, yes...an energy most holy. Not TOO holy...but I felt it.
Shadow: You felt the presence of Holy Energy radiating from them? So then...? What of them? What has become of these intruders?
Riffles: Ohh...ho ho. Well, you see...I left them to be food for the Devourer. But, ah, yeah...that did not turn out all that well. They managed to gut it.
Shadow: Such strength! Ha ha... So they were indeed no mere demons. And, as you said, a Holy Energy...?
Riffles: Yes. Though it was faint, I most certainly felt it.
Corbeink: WH-WHI....which rules OUT theeeee POSSSSSSSibilities of them...them being DEMONS.
Shadow: Correct... Demons can not house light within their bodies. No, especially not within these walls. And to bear such might at their disposal... Ha ha ha! I am intrigued. Quite intrigued...
Riffles: Ho ho...I knew you would be. See? We benefit from my random excursions.
Corbeink: Ha...HAAA. Or...OR SO y-y-yoouu may THInk...
Riffles: Ugh...could you PLEASE bring out another one of the Corbeinks stashed away in there? Your gibberish is going to soon make my head explode.
Corbeink: Hrm? Is my dialect too heavy for you to see through, fair Riffles? I am sorry, but it is the voice best suited towards my visage. It is also that which requires less energy to muster.
Corbeink's head cracks back and is absorbed in to his backside. Emerging from his chest is another head, this time with a much finer, smoother looking face with slicked-back black hair.
Riffles: A dialect? I think you need to learn what it is before going around saying you have one.
Corbeink: Hah hah hah...
Riffles: Shadow? Are you still thinking over there?
Shadow: ...
Corbeink: Leave him to his own doings. Come, we must go and take a small peek at these “Guests†you've seem to have enjoyed taking pleasure in talking about. I need to take a look at them with my own eyes; See if they even appear worthy...
Riffles: Hah. Then I'm afraid you'll be left in disappointment.
Corbeink: I shall be the judge of that.
Riffles and Corbeink walk to the right, out of view
Shadow Master: A Demon...wielding Holy Energy... Could it possibly be...?
The scene switches back to that of Luon and Eria, who have arrived within the Spiders Nest: The next section of Castle Venaitura.
--Level 2: Spiders Nest: Entrance--
Luon: Huff....huff...ha! Look...see! We're here! Finally....we're on the second floor! R-Right? Please tell me we are!
Eria: Oh pipe down. You're acting as though we're just about to reach the end.
Luon: Wait...so we're not? What!? How many floors ARE there to this damn place? Fifty!?
Eria: Eh. Well, a little less than that, but I'll just let you know that we are nowhere NEAR the top yet. So don't worry, we've still got PLENTY of time to get to know one and other!
Luon: Oh woot, I can just feel the excitement.
Eria: Your sarcasm sucks, you know.
Luon: Look, I just want to get out of here as fast as I can! Sure, maybe I should thank the big piece of rock for supposedly reviving me, but I'm not gonna! It's revived me, and now it's gonna kill me! You'd think it'd make up its mind.
Eria: Wouldn't you. Well then, if you want to get out so fast, why are you just standing here?
Luon: Because I'm TIRED. That, and there are definitely more of those...THINGS ahead.
Eria: For the love of...
