Where is my Best Beta Tester Misao? Do I need to post my 5 billion page Balmung Cycle beta report or can I just collect it and go home??? I need a Misao quickly, I am getting old.
You also see graphics and art as well as atmosphere with your eyes?? I don't know they aren't the same thing. I also think graphics and art are 100% different things too.

Also stop being a jerk :(

Hmm is that all you beta tested? A good beta tester plays a wide range of games including the dire ones or at least that's what I thought.
Wait a minute. I should get the beta tester misao...
Please post your beta report, Ciel.
Also I am hiring you for beta testing. You cannot back out of my invitation.

By the way I thought the last 2 misaos were the dumbest thing ever, but that is just me. It was just a method for fanboys to vote for their favorite game.
As I understood it when we were figuring it out last year...

1. Map Design and level design are essentially the same thing, which is the arrangement of elements in a field for the player to navigate or interact with. Don't try and say they are different things: they're not. They're the same thing.

2. Music and sound are grouped together to support a focus on the audio elements of a game's design. More often than not, if consideration is payed to one then it is paid to the other. This award is recognition of that consideration being applied with excellence. I would be up for separating them if another category (one of the Wisaos?) was eliminated.

3. The idea was to make a limited number of categories that were for the most part non-genre specific. In this sense, I think that we should change "best cast of characters" to "best character design". Personally, I don't see the value of awards like "best hero" and "best villain", because you'd think that they would be brought under the aegis of character design, plot, or dialogue.

I agree with this. However, I would be willing to rename the award to something like Best Level/Map design, for sake of clarity in this transition to a set list of Misaos.

I also concur with this.

Best Protagonist and Best Villain bothered me, too. I'd sacrifice them first if we were going to make room for any other award.

The 2nd 3rd Honorable Mentions for best game seems like overkill. Previous Misaos only ever have a handful of games nominated per category. I'm fine with just a Game Of The Year.
Aesthetics are covered with "Best Atmosphere"
If a map was shit ass to play gameplay-wise, it shouldn't be nominated to a theoretical category "Best Map" anyway. Map design incorporates its entire design. If it looks pretty but the rest of it sucks ass, that's poor design.

Map Design and Level Design are essentially the same thing, and we are sticking with Level design moniker so as not to pigeonhole ourselves to a particular style of games (ie- RPGs)
Map design and level design are the same thing, a word was just replaced.

You are playing on a map, which can also be known as a level in the game. Or you are playing on a level, which can also be known as a map in the game.

I still think music and sound design should be separate categories >:(

Yeah.

The whole "when music is good, the sound effects are also good" argument is weird and wrong. I know a lot of guys who are geniuses with sound engineering and mixing, but couldn't write a tune if someone put a gun to their head. And vice versa.

I agree with mapping / level design being the same though. It's not like those are two different things anyway.

I was mocking those who would group music and sound design together. 8)

Nah, scrub beta testers can cut their teeth on stuff like that. Plus, 95% of RPG Maker beta reports are just like "cool gam, i likred your custoam systems" or like, a list of passability errors. That isn't quality feedback.

The origin of the name Misaos is lost in the annals of time. It is sacred.

You disgust me. You remind of those fresh recruits who didn't know what CBS was or even CMS meant. You're the same kind of person who doesn't know the exact size of a charset frame unless he went into paint and counted the pixels. You're the same kind of person who can't even position a picture without having hit the test play button until your random numerical guesses were correct. You're the same kind of person who can't put RESPLENDENT POWER INTO YOUR WORK IN HONOR OF THE MISAOS. Do you know how much money and fame you get from a misao? Huh? Take a guess. Don't know? Get out. Just, get out.

you can't change the name. It just wouldn't be the same.
The only issue I see with knocking off three categories from the writing section is that it leaves the sections poorly balanced, with less awards than the other sections. Hmm.

Also, this might be a retarded idea, but what about a Most Promising Newcomer award, or Best Breakout Game... something of the like to encourage new makers to release their games, even if they're not as solid as the oldbies.
