I'd say change Best Character Design to Best Cast of Charcters. Best Design is kinda covered in Best Protagonist and Antagonist. Plus, having a well rounded cast is a lot different to having just one really good character.
For example, FFVIII has some of my favourite characters from any FF in it, but it's let down by certain characters, namely Zell, so I'd say FFIX has a better cast, though my favourite characters are in VIII (if you understand where I'm coming from).

I agree with this sentiment.
Best character design actually implies more than one character falls under it. Though I suppose it can also stand for something like character artwork.
Either way, it's fairly obvious what it means.

OK. I think overall this list should satisfy most of you. There might be a slight gripe or two from some of you, but it definitely makes more sense than last year's list of categories. Last year, there were 52 of them (7 Wisaos) with 5 of them without even getting any nominees. So keeping the categories focused seems to make sense for a better selection process. Perhaps a little description of the categories not under GOY and Wisaos (which I think are the most self-explanatory!) would be in order to clear any confusion anybody might have ...

I don't like the idea of there being separate categories for demos and completed games in the Game of the Year section. It pretty just means a double-win for which ever game wins game of the year. Personally, I think it would be better if we just have on all encompassing GAME OF THE YEAR category, demos and completed games included, and then have gold, silver, and bronze medals. Also, I still maintain that things like best protagonist and best villain should be covered under best character design.
Those are just my two cents though. Someone should just put thier foot down and say "this is what its going to be" because we could shape and re-shape the categories for years.

I have issues with the Writing section, too, but I have trouble identifying exactly what. There is overlap between Best Character Design and Villain and Protagonist, but I think it's more...we are giving awards for the ideas/content, but not the delivery.

I think Beyond Eden could win a Misao. But not too many have played it passed chapter two.

This is for games released in 2008, S4D. You won't be able to get a Wisao this time around, but you might have a shot at it in 2010, when the next Misaos take place.
And if Best Setting is a Misao, shouldn't Worst Setting be a Wisao? Same goes with Worst Story, Most Boring, and Worst Design.

meh, the Wisaos are just for fun. I think we cover the basics with WORST GAME, MOST OVERHYPED, and GAME THAT NEVER WAS.
But if I remember correctly...ARENA was nominated for most overhyped back when it was getting made in 07 for last year's misaos, and just missed thanks to Barkley.
So I have a shot, I mean...the only other game I can think of that might win that is Barkley again. :)
