FOR SOME REASON, THE ARROW KEYS WON'T WORK IN ANY GAME.

I have no idea what causes this, when I open any game, the arrow keys just do nothing.
The only keys I could get to work was alt, and F12, which just resets the game.
My keyboard works fine.
So I pretty much stuck on any RPG maker game title screen, 2000 and 2003
The only way I can close any game is to Ctrl Alt Delete.
It's kinda messing up my Nigsek bug fixing.
Does anyone know what's going on?

So far, I have absolutely no idea what is wrong. It has never happened to me.
Do the arrow keys work when you're doing anything else, or in any other program?
Wait. Your arrow keys don't work... but you can only close it via the task manager? Does it respond at all when you push enter or whatnot?
Yep, my arrow keys work fine with everything else.
Enter also doesn't work, only key that works is alt, which just starts a new game, which doesn't help.
I can't think of a single reason this would happen, it doesn't make any sense.
Edit: I just tried my brother's keyboard, it didn't work either.
I just noticed that it speeds it's way to the title screens of the games, I remember you usually have to push enter before to pass those 3 screens before the title screens.
I've got tons of RPGmaker games I'd like to play, plus my bug fixes on Nigsek, that I'd like to get back to.

This is bizarre. Try downloading a new game and trying it on that. If the keyboard works with every other program on your computer maybe something screwed up your RPG_RT.exe?
Yup, I just downloaded a new game, same thing.
And while trying trying to fix this, I somehow deleted my font, so the games no longer have font.
I've installed all the RTP again, and that's not fixing it.
How could the RPG_RT.exe be messed up?
And how would I fix it?
For all I know, this may have something to do with me not being able to use Internet Explorer, every time I try to open it, it says it can't find it, even when I'm in the IE in Program Files(Where my computer says it can't find it).

If a freshly downloaded game is messed up then it probably isn't RPG_RT.exe (although with all the hacks floating around I wouldn't be surprised if using one messed it up). Unfortunatley I don't have any idea why your computer is acting the way it is.
I can at least help with the fonts though. Download this and put everything except the RPG_RT.exe into your Windows/Fonts directory.
*edit*
What other programs did you try using the arrow keys with? Was it another game or just something like Notepad?
*reedit*
Copy everything except RPG_RT.exe and RPG_RT.dat into the fonts directory

Unfortunately, putting those fonts in that folder didn't do anything. Those fonts were already in there anyway.
Just have those having those fonts in windows/fonts should get the fonts to show right?
In between the last time I played a RPGmaker game, I think that's when I downloaded System pack 3 for Windows XP, which has caused other programs to stop working, Zelda Classic for example.
Could this be part of the problem?
Would you happen to know a way to downgrade back to SP2?
Seems RPGmaker no longer wants to work for me.
Edit: Oh, and yes, I have tried the arrow keys with other programs, and they work just fine.

Generally yes although its possible to hack a RPG_RT.exe to use a different font. I doubt it'll make a difference, but try using the RPG_RT.exe included with the fonts in a game and see if it does anything different.
author=Earthbound_X link=topic=2907.msg56557#msg56557 date=1232170429A botched upgrade of a service pack can screw up a system. I've only seen it once though and that was downloading SP3 through something like MajorGeeks or something like that instead of Microsoft's webpage.

If you remember the approximate date when everything went you hell you could do a System Restore to that date. If that doesn't work then I'm not sure if you can downgrade without a reinstall.

I'm not sure what it'll fix but backing up important stuff would probably be a good idea before trying to restore from SP3 to SP2 to be on the safe side.
OK, using that RPG_RT fixes my fonts for RPGmaker 2003 games, but I can't use it with 2000 games(The game I'm bug fixing is a 2000 game).
I have a feeling this arrow key problem may have never happen to many others.
Edit: Just checked, RPGmaker XP games seem to work fine. So it's just 2000 and 2003, I"m so confused...

Huh....after restarting my computer, RPGmaker seems to be working fine.
I even got the fonts back.
I won't lie, I feel pretty stupid.
Thanks for all you're help GreatRedSpirit.
