It does look like high res Rm2k.

I wonder if they built-in sideview battles, too?
Having sideviews would be pretty cool. Just makes me wanna get this thing even more when it comes out.
First off what does the VX stand for? If it's fr Vista count me out. Also the graphics are shocking! They better let me import my own graphics because they suck! As for sideview I could make that on rmxp easily anyway so it ain't much of a jump. This thing also better have the full colour quality of rmxp otherwise I'm going to pit it. Also half sized graphics? Are they nuts! I think it would have been better if they went closer to Kaider sized sprites and have it set to a full screen rather than a 640x480. Seriously though I think I'll stick with rmxp!
RMVX is to RMXP what RM2k3 is to RM2k. It's not what RM95 is to RM2k? Really?

RMVX is RPG Maker Vista Xtreme, most likely. They originally wanted it to be RPG Maker Vista EXtreme, but that would equal RM VEX. An RM that vexes us. Hooray.

Well, I didn't really use RM2k3 that much, because it wasn't that much of an upgrade. Also, it ate some of my maps. If I do use it, it will probably be for remakes (of my game series), not original games.
I'm not sure that the "ABCDE" stuff is layers. It might be different parts of the map, much like in RM95.

And seriously, it does look like RM95. Can anyone say the remake of Dragon Kingdoms III: Cycle of Fate?

A full update will likely be ready by the end of 2009, anyway, following the RM2k-RM2k3-RMXP release pattern:

RM2k- June 2000
RM2k3- December 2002
RMXP- July 2004 (Sept 2005 overseas, but why would they go by that?)

Hmm, RMVX is actually late, in that case. And if they release a new maker (not RMVX) in the summer of 2008, it will make them look silly.
This sorta makes me think of something like an RM95/2k3/XP blend....
whether a blend of bests or worsts, uncertain...
but one thing's for sure...

I'd think the A/B/C/D/E letters below the tileset are for the tile layers, so perhaps it might allow for 5 layers.

I agree with this.

Fully agree with you. Though i wouldn't be quite sure if they make another maker before then.
Confirmed English translation release February 2008, available at download.com

Sidebar, the RMVX Enterbrain product pages have been updated with an English and a Japanese trailer for the software, showing in-game and editor footage. There is also a small clip of a sort of 'Super Robot Wars' type game which, following the trend of Futuristic demo games, is likely to be an packaged game.
Excellent. Never really tried XP, so I might have to check this out.

Hell hath frozen over.

Actually, hell froze over when Sonic got into Super Smash Bros. Brawl. But heck.
Well, we knew they were going to make an English release; we just didn't know when. Why else would they make an English page in the first place?

Anyways, I watched the video. It seems pretty nice. Though, I'm definitely going to be importing graphics. And waiting for people to write scripts. I like the idea of finally being able to do a turn-based side-view battle system (evidence from the sample game).

You should check this out when it is released. Some of the features of it look good as well such as 'easier map creating' where you can design more advanced and better maps with little time.

What, you didn't like it two years ago when RMXP came out?
I guess I should qualify that statement:

I like the idea of finally being able to do a turn-based side-view battle system with text explaining what's going on, rather than being like "zomg animation damage display." It'd make creating a Golden Sun-type game easier, if anyone would want to do that.
Again,

What, you didn't like it two years ago when RMXP came out?
There'd be more to change in RMXP to do something like that than in RMVX. Though, I don't know why I'm arguing this point - I'm a 2k3 person; it shouldn't matter to me. I highly doubt that this will change my opinion much about RMXP, considering the fact that it was significantly more difficult to do anything remotely interesting without either creating or ripping your own graphics as well as a knowledge in Ruby. Not saying that VX is going to be any different, though.

And if you're waiting for me to make true logical sense, don't. I don't like XP, and that's the bottom line. It's just too difficult to jump from the 2k/3 series to XP without learning something entirely more complex to make something simple and fun (since everyone seems to hate default systems with a passion). I'd also like to mention, for the record, that I flunked my Computer Science exam in Java.
RMVX doesn't have a built in Side-View system, or so they are eluding in the Trailer video. It looks as though it needs to be scripted, as well.
Don't know enough about XP to really understand how big of an improvement this could be over XP.

It seems like the smallest RM* update that I've seen. The jump from 2K to 2K3 sported that flashy little side-view ABS that everybody gushed over, and the move to XP was pretty big and allowed a lot of powerful stuff with Ruby.

Ehh, I really started losing track of these things as far back as 2K3 though, I never bothered with anything beyond RM2K. I'm kind of a slow learner :-\.
They should make an option is which u could port XP games in VX for better performance, etc.
Just like 2K and 2K3.
That would be a nice feature. Wouldn't be surprised if it's already there.

There wasn't really a port feature from RM2K to RM2K3... it was a pretty dirty process that only existed because the two were so similar.
