Dude, you don't even know. The gamespot/gamefaqs boards are flooded with racism topics.
I personally do not think it's racist, but when people see a white man killing black men (Ignore the fact that they are infected / The fact that he is trying to survive) they automatically think it's racist.
Well there is a difference when he is killing africans instead of... spaniards.

I've been reading up on 7th Dragon recently, and it looks really neat. It apparently plays like the bastard child of Etrian Odyssey and Dragon Quest III, except with a more dynamic plotline, a slightly easier difficulty curve and slightly irritating chibi graphics. Also the development team has a lot of interesting people in it and the music is by the same guy who did the music for Etrian Odyssey. The only thing I'm unsure about is whether it will actually come to the US. After all, Soma Bringer never ended up coming over here, so who knows?
Also, Black Sigil: Blade of the Exiled looks suspiciously like an RPG Maker game but I am really hoping that it will turn out to be pretty decent. There are so many interesting JRPGs coming out for the DS this year that it's hard to know where to start!
