ADVERT TOPICS

I don't think we should allow Advert topics to be posted that lack a demo! Here's why:

Considering how many people ever release a demo, adverts are just pointless hype, especially when it's already posted on the sites database, it can generate enough interest that way (and now we have game updates to help that).

I keep reading game topics, get interested and realise there's nothing to play and sometimes nothing to see. It should be brought to my attention when I can do more than "Sounds good!"

Topic's like this are exactly what I'm referring to http://www.rpgmaker.net/forums/index.php?topic=3030.0

What do you think?
I know what you mean man, I think that forum "Game Discussion and Releases" should be solely for Game / demo releases, not adverts for hype.
Maybe they should go in Game Feedback! Thoughts?

I guess that would be a better idea! It's better than them filling up the Release forum so I don't have to search through what I can play or not. I tire of looking at adverts.
I think that's the perfect place for them to go, Kentona. Obviously, advert topics try to gain hype for the game that's being advertised while it's still very early. It's a great way to get suggestions and feedback from other people. The Feedback Forum is a much better place for them than GD&R, which is for stuff that's actually completed or has a demo, and also, some screenshots.
Over on RRR, we have a rule that you cannot set up an advertisement topic unless you have a playable version of your game at least an hour long to go with it.

Perhaps you should consider a rule like that or something relating to advert topics, as I agree that releasing a topic but never a demo is pointless hype and thus spam.
I like Katona's idea, but seriously...we don't need ADVERTS because you can always just submit your half baked idea into the main site and add stuff from there. When you have a DEMO or FULL game...then you can make a topic! :)

It is possible, however, to post your project in the early development stage to advertise it at the "Game Theory & Design" forums - and a demo isn't a necessity, I believe, although it must usually be done to ask for feedback and such. (Talkin' 'bout RRR here)

Nevertheless, topics like the one in the OP are still pretty uncomplete to me and should they ever be allowed here, they should be made to follow certain guidelines or with a purpose other than mere advertising.
If we enforce a one hour rule, I would never able to release anything, and everything I have ever released would not be allowed. (I've released a lot of stuff.)
Well, it doesn't have to be a One Hour rule, I was only using it as an example, but a rule to have playable content of some kind should certainly be implemented.
