Anyone planning on seeing this?

I read the comic book (whoops, sorry - graphic novel) just last year, even though it had been sitting on my bookshelf for over 6 years. It is quite good, just to let everyone know, if you haven't read it yet. I'd recommend it.
I am really psyched for the movie. From what I've read and the trailers I've seen, it looks like they did a really good job on this.
Incidentally, the first season of Heroes mirrored the plot of Watchmen in many ways, so if you liked it, you'll enjoy Watchmen.
NOTE: Just so you know, only one character has anything that can be construed as "super" powers - Dr.Manhattan (the blue guy). Everyone else is just regular vigilantes. This isn't really a spoiler, but it does surprise a lot of people who are only peripherally aware of Watchmen. Surprised me, anyway.

Yeah they changed it from...
...a giant psychic monster thing...
...to...
...a powerful explosive device of some sort.
Truly, what the threat is isn't that important (as long as it's devastating, which it is), compared to the threat itself.
If you've read about the first 2 or 3 drafts, yeah, the ending was changed significantly in them (with weird time travel shit, heroes dying all over the place). But in this one, it's very faithful to the novel. They even kept the powerful (almost anti-climatic) ending, I've heard.

I have mixed feelings. I am a huge fan of the comic but uh, I do not have high hopes for this adaptation. I'll see it, of course. On another level I'm psyched as hell.

That basicallly sums it up.
Actually many of the early reviews have been fairly positive. But from the few trailers and videos that I've seen the dialogue seems pretty off and there are a few too many slo-mos and fast-forwards for my liking.
Watchmen is the best and most faithful adaptation of anything in any medium ever, and is also one of the best films you or I will ever see.
That is all. It is your duty as an American to see it. It is one of the most important works of cinema to come along in a long time.

Got back from watching it with a lot of friends tonight. It's really good, especially so if you've read the graphic novels.
1. It follows the format of the comic really well, the dialogue, the scenes, everything.
2. Blue wang. It freaked some of my less sexually secure friends at first, but you learn to not notice it as much.
3. Rorschach was portrayed really awesome, mask on and off.
4. Not all of my friends (a lot of us went) read the comic. Even without me explaining certain things (I eventually did when we went to eat afterwards) certain aspects of the comic, they 'got it'. The overall message and plot weren't lost on them.
5. I know they had sex in the comic, but Nite Owl was giving it to Silk Spectre when they were in Archie. Wow, uh, what a scene.
6. Ozymandias is gay, as in literally homosexual. I didn't really notice it until the movie.
7. Fight scenes were awesome.
8. Once again, really faithful adaptation to the comic.
9. Excellent casting, I mean god damn

I can't watch this movie at the cinema thanks to giant blue wang. How irritating is that?

As in the theater won't show it? or as in your a wimp and seeing wang bothers you THAT much.
This looks stupid and I have no interest in it. Not even a "visionary" (lol) director can save it for me.
