IKA DEVELOPMENTS

There are just my thoughts on ika and my ideas behind it.
Guidelines
ika games should never require Python to be installed on the system.
You do not have to install ika to play ika games; only develop them.
ika Installation
ika will come with the "ika game library" (IGL), a package of scripts to fulfill most generic aspects of game engines.
ika will come with iked, the ika editor, which includes specific tools to develop your ika game.
ika Game Library
Written entirely in Python.
IGL can be updated and will be maintained with ika itself.
IGL will contain multiple subpackages dealing with certain genres of games, such as:
RPGs
Platformers
Shooters
The different genre engines inside IGL will come with premade ikaDB models.
I imagine the directory structure of IGL will be something similar to this:
igl/
db/
formats/
genres/
rpg/
platform/
shooter/
utils/
ika will continue to provide heavy lifting for audio and video.
ika Game Distribution
iked will contain a specific "Distribute" tool that will deal with the task of packaging your game to be distributed.
ika is a cross-platform engine. iked packaged games will contain all the game files, a Windows binary and a copy of the developer's current IGL package. Due to the nature of linux libraries, I don't know an easy method for Linux distribution.

Is this what you will ika be in the future or what currently ika is?
I really like the idea of IGL. I assume we are able to create our own IGL as well.
Still haven't got time to learn python properly yet but that doesn't mean I've lost interest in ika!

The purpose behind IGL is basically to have a library that is always distributed with ika and is always available to use. You won't be able to make your own IGL, but you will be able to contribute to it.
As I have said before, that's been fixed, Max. :)
Yeah, ika will still handle all the input stuff. I am thinking that I might extend it some for IGL but I am not sure about it.
I think I downloaded ika some while ago on my old comp, but it didn't work for some reason. but I will try it again on this one in a few days. kiss on you wip
I'm really liking the progress made with ika, especially since it'll have better vista support. As I was having problems, mostly just with the XI library as that never seemed to work on my vista computer, my code however worked just fine.
As for IkeadV2 I really liked the screens over at the official site, hopefully it'll be a full blown editor. Mapping, Animations, Events, the works.
GL!

Realize that the goal isn't to remake RPG Maker, Sasuke. There won't be an animation or event editor as far as I know.
