Yeah, I always wondered how you guys manage without having ads pay for the site, etc... so what's the story?
wow, where... :o I never really noticed them. Maybe I should start hanging out more so I can get to see some of these things haha.

It pretty much comes out of our pockets. The ads take a chunk out of it, but we didn't have ads on for almost a year.
I have admuncher (the best one ever! and it's free too!) but I only use it if I'm browsing through sites that host illegal content haha, never really when I'm here nor any other RM community. That's weird, I really don't see them, and I checked both the forums and the main site... I have noscript on firefox 2.0, does this really get rid of the ads? I don't know much about it, but I doubt it, since I get ads from everywhere, except in here.

EDIT:

Wip: I see, I assumed so, you guys have some hardcore dedication then. And I don't mind ads, lol I just never get to see them...
Use IE then you'll see them! :P

I'm using firefox and I see the ads they're just pretty inconspicuously placed. Cudos to WIP on that.

First of all it's "kudos", please become more educated on our wonderful variety of world cultures before attempting to employ their most time-honored terms. :-[

Secondly, placing your ads inconspicuously is a wonderful way to not make any money! If Holbert weren't rich, or whatever, I would suggest making non-registered users get a little more ad saturation. 8)

Allow me to shed some light on the ad placement........

In the final version of RMN3 there was a designated spot for ads that fit with the layout design. However since it has been delayed and it's imperative that Holbert get some kind of assistance in paying for the site, the ads were added to the current version in the best place where they can still be seen.

Though I am not an ad lord by any means I have dealt in pushing and selling internet ads in the past, so I can tell you that it is likely very little revenue actually is generated from the ads!

Ad revenue currently generates yields approximately 50% of the operating costs for rpgmaker.net.

It could be worse.

Note: If all those who had paid hosting with rpgmaker.net actually paid for their service (on time), we would actually kind of break even.

Oh... Are you paid on something other than clicks then?

Yes I know it's "kudos". Brain fart.

Secondly...if RMN is getting 50% of its operating costs revenue from ads, that really is quite good considering how un-obnoxious they are. And I know that I personally am not the type to click (irrelevant) ads no matter how large they are, so if they were bigger, it would just make the site more annoying. That's just me though.
