I don't know if any of you have seen a video called
Hotel Mario: Missing Cutscenes on youtube, but there's this
one part where a nerdy-looking guy eats Luigi and does all of these
funny poses. I liked it so much, that I took some pictures of
him doing various poses, and put it into a 2k3 large battle animation.
One thing has been bothering me: Is this plagarism? Even if I give
major credit to the video, am I still allowed to use it? I'm starting
to think that I can't, since I haven't talked to whoever made the video,
so it would look like I'm taking the pictures of the guy for my own.
If I can't, I can always use thegreat RTP graphics...But if
I do talk to the guy, and I manage to be able to use it while giving
the creator creditwith without a money transaction, would it
be alright then?

No, I just meant that I don't want to get in trouble
for using the pictures without consent of
the creator, even with credit...

One of your games uses FF7's title screen, and you're worried about a youtube video?
But Square-Enix doesn't care if a small game developer uses its material (non-commercially).
A small game developer probably does care if a fellow small game developer does (sometimes even non-comercially).
In this case, I guess there's no risk.
RPGManiac3030, I think you agonized more there about stealing resources than the entire community has as a whole. The truth is, this 'Hotel Mario' guy does not work for nintendo, and hence, he is probably committing copyright violation himself. Basically, everyone steals resources and there's a 60% chance you're using a stolen engine too.
So, like, as long as you give credit, and aren't trying to make a profit off of your game, there's no moral conundrum here.

Hotel Mario is a game for
the CD-i, it is the worst Mario Game
not made by Nintendo, and has been subject
to much parodies and the like.
Anyway, I'll just keep the animation...It's too
funny to get rid of it. I was just worried
that since the animation is of a Real Life Man...but
it still doesn't matter, I guess.

Btw, you're not "allowed" to use that illegally downloaded program you're using to make those animations. :)

Wait, so ripping off games that make money is better than ripping off games that are free? -_-
RPGManiac3030, mo one really gives a shit if you steal graphics
edit:
your posts sound
like you are stuck

you can only speak

you must pause

The worst they would do is send a cease and desist letter and that won't even happen. (It happened once: Donald Fuck RPG, or whatever.) You're likely using an illegal copy of RPGMaker anyways.

Maybe he's feeling poetic.
I like keeping my posts clean and I don't like them
being too wide. I don't tell you how to type.
The copy of RPGMaker is illegal, yes, but
EVERYONE(Everyone who uses it anywhere except
Japan) has it, and no one is getting busted for it.
The picture, however, little to no people except
me probably took the picture and put it into an
animation, so me being the only one kind of makes
me stand out.

Yeah 'cause those big companies don't give a shit
whether you're using their rips or not because
at least 10,000+ other people use them, too.
(Btw, yeah they can have other reasons but
the thing is that they don't care.)
How many people would want to use graphics
from a youtube video called
"Hotel Mario: Missing Cutscenes"?
