HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF SOMEONE DELETES YOUR THREAD?
Posts
this has nothing to do with RMN by the way...
Recently I was in this one community, and I made a topic about asking a question... now, my question was answered, blah blah blah, but now I can't find the topic anywhere... I mean, I don't remember it being concluded, but it's nowhere to be found so far, even when I do my self search for threads I made.
Well, to be honest, I really don't care much to complaint in general, if one of my topics gets deleted in a site, however, I will deffinitely prefer if I'm notified through pm or something, cause I think it's the moral thing to do at least.
So what about you? have you ever had a topic you made completely deleted? if so, share your story, and your views about this whole action.

I have had many of my topics deleted...
And honestly it really does not bother me at all
since i'll just move on.
But I can see how it can upset someone.

Well, how about if it's your game thread? or an article or something that can be considered contribution?

Well then that sucks. It's nicer for moderators spotting problem threads to just lock them, then start handing out punishments if the bad conversation doesn't end there but leaks into a new topic... I remembered as a mod I'd only delete topics if they were unfairly offensive, pornographic, or completely completely useless. But then again, all in the mind of the beholder. Of course, I can't define 'completely completely useless', but I know it if I see it ;D.
I would delete that punk's thread right back.

Why do I feel this could turn into a moronic thread... ;D
Having moderated three large forums in the past, I've come to feel that threads should never be deleted unless they are outright spam or something that violates the site's content policy, like, an image of 500 dongs. A forum's history whether good or bad should be preserved, and locking a topic or moving it to some kind of "dump" section accomplishes that while quelling whatever issue is at hand. There is just no real reason to outright delete things, it's usually just overzealous moderation. If you go on some backwater forum with 20 members and 5 mods they are always like, incredibly eager to exert their mod powers and will lock/delete for anything. It is like, a smalltown cop tasering a kid for stealing an aero bar.
I probably wouldn't post there anymore because a community that deletes my threads is a community not worthy of my respect or participation.
I've had that happen on other forums. It's kind of frustrating; I'd at least like to know what I did wrong so I can avoid making the same mistake in the future.

Yeah, that would be the right thing to do... but in my case in that specific community, it just felt kinda weird to have my shit deleted without even saying why... like I said, it's not like it was my game thread, cause goddamn I'll really dare to ask if this ever happens to me in a community that I feel or don't think I have problems with the administration...

We City Dump 'em 'round these parts, Bubbalouie!
Yes, this is something that I like about this community. Hope this forum section never gets deleted ;D
I am against ever deleting anything.
As a side note, I do not believe a thread has ever been deleted here.

There have been some deleted. A few times if I see a miserable thread immediately it is hard not to just hit delete.

Considering it is probably me deleting your thread, pretty good, really!
You'd feel good if you deleted your own thread? As for me, eh, it happens. I don't mind so much if a thread I make gets locked, but I too am against the deletion of posts/topics/etc.
