MUST YOU PAY FOR RTP GAMES?

Oh, well then no, the stats are changed. That's just about it though. The game is about as mediocre as it comes.

For example, at one point you fight a boss (Lamia) and one of it's attacks is simply called "attack", yes with the lower case and all.

This continues through the game, as NOTHING is capitalized! For example, the sword I have equipped is called "wooden stick" (and it has an icon of a broadsword).

I actually got into a fight with the creator of Eternal Eden when I told everyone on RPG Fan that EE isn't great and there are much better VX games for free.

You can read the argument here: http://www.rpgfan.com/boards/index.php?topic=5525.0
Well to be fair, that's not exactly true - Your opening post there, before you edited it later on, was rather heavily pretentious with or without EE's mentioning; and that coming from my rather high tolerance on the subject means something. The creator of Eternal Eden himself was actually fairly cool with you, it's the others who you were "in a fight" with.
Yeah sorry bro, gonna go with Reives on this one. Usually in the "marketing world" (in which you aren't unless you're selling the game) generally businessmen try to come off as really nice people who care only for the benefit of you for the sake of profit. Not someone who spits in the face of their competitors. Sure you could probably find some examples (Pepsi VS Coke) but that's only when the competition is hot, and is generally frowned upon.

When you have nothing to lose, I really don't see why you needed to be aggressive about it. EE's creator simply came in your topic with a big smile.
Ugh, okay, but did anyone notice how the other people, who WEREN'T familiar with RPG Maker games outside of EE, Aveyond and mine and Reive's games, just got so defensive about EE and immediately thought it was a lot better purely because it was commercial as opposed to mine which wasn't.

The fact is that my game is a free game but even so I like to present a nice looking topic for it and sell it off as a good game, just like anyone else. I made the mistake of saying that in my own opinion it was better than EE which I shouldn't have done.

It's just funny IMO that the only people who opposed that comment were people who weren't RMers themselves ie EE's target market.
Everybody on other RM sites has agreed with the comment whole heartedly.

I like to present a nice looking topic for it and sell it off as a good game, just like anyone else.
That comes off as so innocent and fishing for sympathy by riding on the EE case. If I wasn't there before the editing and reading your posts here is all I know about this, I'd probably sway to your side too.

But need I remind you that your other topic there, one where EE wasn't even mentioned/involved in your opening post, still received the same type of attitude in responses? Yet funny enough, that the same attitude in responses didn't happen with other people's posted projects? Why is that?

As said before, you have to realize that excessive self-gratification is not "a nice looking topic just like anyone else's". Selling the game to potential players is more than bloating about it; sometimes it's better to show than to tell. I understand that you yourself stated several times that you have a big ego and whatnot, but that tend to clash with others if you don't restrain at times.

Again, please don't take it personally, I'm just trying to get your presentations to be less flame-attractive. Since as proven, the problem isn't with EE, but your take on what is a "nice looking topic".

Well, I have been trying hard to not come off as egotisitcal, but I do not see what the fuss has been about. Only people on that site have attacked my posts (aside you but you're not really attacking anyway) while people on RM sites have congratulated me on a great game and a great topic.

I don't make crap games and try to sell them off as great (well I did with Tales Of Worlds) I make good games and give them the promotion and hype they deserve. Aside from the EE comment, I have never said "my game is better than this one" or "my game is the best there is" or anything like that.

If you're taling about lines such as "a thrilling story emphasising character development with 8 intricate characters" and such like that, that isn't egotistical at all, that is just good writing skills/hyperbole.

You mean your brain-dead rrr following that loves the Pan Screen command

also

do you know what hyperbole means? ???

alsoalso

adjectives != writing skills
Oh so you are choosing to flame me and my forum of choice now? Craze, just because you did not like my game does not mean it is not good. Many other people besides you and besides RRR have played it and enjoy it. I do not restrict myself exclusively to RRR.

Here is the www.rpgmakervx.net topic for One Night: http://www.rpgmakervx.net/index.php?showtopic=8873

Here is the topic for Legionwood at the above: http://www.rpgmakervx.net/index.php?showtopic=6082

As you can see, both are considerably more popular than on RRR.

Even the RMN topics for those games have been recieved quite well and not a bad word about the games in any of them.

Now, for fighting with you, you can have me banned or whatever, but attacking someone like that for no reason is not something that makes me want to stay here on RMN.
If you don't agree with me, fine, state that but there's no need to shit on someone because you do not like their game. (Have you even played the new Legionwood or any of my other games anyway? Can you judge? I thought we were past this.)

The Pan Screen comment was plain below the belt. I have redone that intro and that whole demo, which you only played a pre beta of. Perhaps you should actually play the game before judging eh?

Also, hyperbole means to exaggerate something or blow it up for the purpose of emphasising it. Do not argue with me there.

I pointed out "hyperbole" because you said that you weren't being egotistical. I said that your RRR fans are brainless drones because whenever I read topics on RRR (and other sites, but RRR is currently my target) I see lots of "lolgood gaem liked how it was an rpg" posts, and when I see that kind of posting I immediately think of Legionwood and its clones (Mokensen and hesufo's game come to mind).

btw they really DO love pan screen. It's a good command and all, but man. I swear I have seen posts that were deviations from the example above; "lolgood gaem liked how it used pan screen."

I guess I just see you as the leader of exactly what I do not like in the RM* community. It is a matter of extreme differences in taste, I guess. Also, I do have a personal grudge against you (omg immaturellolz?? maybe/maybe_not) because 1) you have edited my posts on RRR to say things to the effect of "I love you Dark Gaia, best mod evah" and also 2) before you HID THE EVIDENCE by editing your posts (hey Reives, you're not the only one to notice this!) you were incredibly pissy and flamed me for making a credible and ultimately helpful list of exactly what I did not like about the game's prior release. You did calm down, but the fact that you edited your posts to be nicer really upsets me.

tl;dr version: I dislike you and type of project that you represent. I am also probably jealous that you have rabid jRPG zombiefans and I don't.
Everyone should pay me for playing Hero's Realm, RTP Masterpiece Extraordinaire.

(How's dem egos?)
Craze, I did NOT edit your posts, Kaz did that. (I edited MINE I will admit) I do not do that at all. It is the first I've heard of it. As for the editing that Reives knows of, I edited out the comment in question so as to not cause any more offense to anybody, not to cover up wrongdoing. Can we just agree to disagree? I'm not one to hold a grudge so I would like it if we could just be civil to each other.
I'm FAR from the "leader" of what you don't like in the RM community. If anything, my development styles and choices are influenced by the accepted norm in the RM community that everyone else follows. If you don't like me, you won't like the RM community as a whole. I don't mean any offense but RMN is in a way the only site that does not embrace modern RMing themes.

As for you being jealous of me Craze... Come on, don't be stupid. Your games are far more well known than mine ever are. If this is what this has been about...
I could simply give the word for my zombie horde to play and enjoy your game.

I'm sorry you don't like me and I accept that, but I at least hope we can be civil to each other for the sake of maintaining some sort of peace and not rabidly flaming each other and causing upset. If you don't like my projects then don't. Obviously we both have different tastes and it is a conflict of interest. I like to make games that are liked by a mainstream audience, you prefer to make more involved ones that as such probably seems inaccessible to most people. This is not to say I follow forumlaic devlopment cliches intentionally. I feel that I have a story to tell and to make a game like Legionwood is the only way to tell it. I couldn't tell a story in a dungeon crawler or a survival horror game could I? Shows how much you know about me anyway as it seems you dislike jRPG projects when in fact that is just one of my projects. I also have One Night which is about as far from a typical VX game as you can get, being a survival horror game with not one appearance of the so hated chibis that catgorize VX games. The fact that you don't like my project shouldn't sully your opinion of me.

I certainly don't like some of your games (as I don't like dungeon crawlers much) but I still have respect for you as someone with good opinions and a lot of RM experience.

Okay.

Answer to question: Yes, if they are sold.

Dammit, F-G, now they're gonna go make a topic about their egos.
Pay for RTP games? No way.
If some want to sell their game, that's their business. Except if they make people wait two years for a free game and then suddenly announce that it will be cut in 3 paying parts.
If I don't want to buy their games, I'm free to do so.
So what? There are other games online, that are free, and often way better than the paying ones. And often better than the console games!
See, I'm far to be a teenager. I have to bring money home for my student son and me. There is only one salary at home, and I can't afford buying consoles and games anymore. So I just can't pay for online games, even if I wanted. And I don't.
You must consider too that 20 $ may not be too expensive for a game. It's "only" 15 €.
But those games are not only available only in Europe or in the US. In India, for example, or in Indonesia, 20$ is a very expensive price for a game...especially when you are not sure that you will like it from the beginning (free demo) to the end.

By the way, "Three Stars of Destiny" was made by the same one who made the Laxius Power series. Just to let you know.

Just my two cents. 8)

Edit.
I'm not very interested either with cracked versions of those paying games. The RMXP and (what's the name again?)RMVX games are making my computer lag anyway, so...
