REALLY ODD IDEA FOR A MANGA/ANIME

Once upon a time, there was Europe. Then there was the Black Plague, and everyone died. Almost everyone, at least. Then it vanished, leaving the civilized world in a shambles.
Eventually, life returned to some semblance of normalcy, but not all is as it once was. While the Black Plague brought death in its wake, it also brought power--a power that mankind had never seen before. From all over Europe come news of impossibilities: a boy who can defy physics and build wondrous machinery; a young man who can breathe life into stone; politicians who can transform entire cities into willing slaves. These strange beings, products of the times, are swiftly dubbed "philosophers", and the powers of Europe enter a mad scramble to gain the allegiance of as many philosophers as possible.
The War for Enlightenment has stretched on for years, pitting philosopher against philosopher in battles of wit, might and "vim", an undefinable trait that is supposedly responsible for the philosophikal abilities. But though much blood has been shed, the war has only begun; for somewhere in Europe, a new Philosopher has appeared, one even more valuable that all the rest. His name is Nostradamus, and rumor has it he can tell the future...
The philosophers want his power. The church want him dead. Let the Renaissance begin!

If i decided to make a manga/anime i would base it on my game. Give it some wicked effects and designs. That's my odd idea.
Ideas like this have been done before, albeit with major variations in setting and backstory. Not to say that the premise couldn't be done in a compelling and unique way. I will say you are pretty good at pitching a story though.
I love the 4400/Heroes, etc. This sounds like the similar premise but in a totally different medieval setting.
I like the potential here a lot.

Hooray! Interest has revived!
The idea was to take a historical setting--in this case, the Renaissance--and combine it with a superhero/shonen kind of plot--in this case, philosophers beating the crap out of each other with mysterious unexplained powers. Exploiting history is fun!
The three philosophers mentioned in the first post were Leonardo DaVinci, Michelangelo, and one of the Medicis (not sure who yet), respectively. Martin Luther would probably be a character, too, as well as Pope Leo Medici. The Black Plague could probably be a character too, but that would be getting metaphysical.
Picture Leonardo with a huge mechanical weapon fighting against Michelangelo, while the sculptor throws living sculptures into the man's path. That's about the sort of ridiculousness I'm going for.
