HALIBABICA'S FULL GAME REVIEW ~ DEAD THREAD
Posts
That game is super freaky. I finished it one time and I just asked for the other 4 endings because this game almost kill me. If this game was 3d I wouldn't even play it
I have to object to the supposition that blank-slate characters are an inherent weakness. If handled well (with, say, insane customizability), blank-slate characters can actually increase a player's immersion in the game. Plus, it pretty much guarantees that the characters you play are not unrelatable.
Quick Poll: People that have been forced to play an RPG with a character who's character you just loathed put up your hand.
*raises hand*

I agree more with Fallen-Griever about this. Blank-slate characters do make for a different kind of story; one vastly different than you would expect from a game with lots of story focus and character depth.
As for it being a weakness...I must admit, thrown in the light of being a different kind of story, it's not bad at all. The story serves the game more as a course of events than an epic tale of suspense and drama. There are benefits to silent protagonists, too. For example, I couldn't use this in the review (as it's all fabricated), but the lack of personality in the characters forced me to invent personalities for them; ones I probably enjoyed more than I would've if they were more developed in-game.
It's hard to put these two story types under the same category, but I stand by my assessment. As a story, it's not that great. But as a story for the kind of game you were trying to make, it's excellent. I think I mentioned in the review that a deeper storyline would've changed the feel of the game...
EDIT: I KILLED SPOOKY POOKY! That stupid teddy bear ripped me up good! I hope the battles in The Beyond are as few as that RRR review suggested, because half my health for one stuffed animal seems a bit much!
What ever happened to this, hali?
The Beyond deterred me with its spookiness, I became RMN's 2nd official review guy alongside Brickroad, work, friends, other hobbies, and life in general came busting down my door all at once. Gee, where did it all go wrong...?
Trust me, this is far from forgotten. Every day, there's a shortcut to The Beyond on my desktop that reminds me I'm slacking off. But, I will continue! I don't let stuff like this die that easily. Just a matter of finding the time and the will...a surprisingly difficult task.
I owe my new overlords reviews of Quintessence and Visions & Voices before I can continue with this, but they don't have to be played all the way through. It's just so I can match Brickroad review for review so they can compare us and decide which to throw in the scorpion pit or something.
Short version: dead? No! Busy as hell! :P

It looks like more people should take up halibabica's idea of other people choosing games to review off of the list. nudge nudge
I understand you're very busy, but if you ever get around to it, would you mind adding Prophecy : The Demon Kingdom to your list of games to be reviewed? It'd be great to receive such in-depth feedback :D
There's a decent-looking site for the game too, if you'd rather download it from there: www.ProphecyDemonKingdom.net
Thanks so much (and don't worry if you can't get to it)!

Everything will be gotten to eventually. Nothing leaves this list without a review! Unless I die or something.

My Gio Adventures review is almost done. I haven't forgetten about it.
I don't feel good about this...anyway, I'm still playing through Rhukaat. I feel like I haven't reached halfway through the game yet, so I expect my review to come in mid July. I usually stop playing a game for a while
I would like a full game review done for Forum Command: The Attack of RMN3 so I can see how high of a quality of a game I can make while slacking off at work.

The real reason I want a full game review? I want one because it is an arcade game that NEVER ENDS. Mwahahaha

Queue'd.
Gad-ZOOKS! This thread actually fell to the second page! And its rapid descent is matched only by my decline in productivity!
This has to stop. Time to get serious and do something about it!
Tomorrow, I'm turning on The Beyond. And I'm not turning it off until I've beaten it! AND gotten all four endings! It's not that scary, and it's not that long, and I REALLY shouldn't be letting it stop me like this. If I don't have a Full Game Review of it up by the end of the week, then I deserve to be slapped silly. Silly, I say!

Halibabica, I commend you for attempting such a ridiculous service. Even I might've said "I'll review all of your games... after completion or 2 days of gameplay, whichever comes first." I'll put my game on your queue shortly.
Hey, my demo "The Tiamat Sacrament" is ready for review, if somehow you get through the others in line.
All right! I finally beat The Beyond! Now all I have to do is speed run it for the other three endings! Shouldn't take more than a few hours. Yaaaaaay, it's almost over...although I have a few questions for you, Dark Gaia.
Even though I downloaded the most recent version, I still had some problems you described about the previous version. First of all, I was only able to find four of the five Shadow Tomes because the one that was supposed to be the 3rd was actually an extra copy of the 4th. Secondly, I got the Shadow Pendant, but my end game statistics still said I missed it. Finally, one of your math problems is incorrect. It's the one from the business card with the factors of X and Y. The answer should be -9, but it's listed in the Readme solutions as 21. Do these sound like familiar errors? Because I think I might still be playing an outdated version.
Oh, and The Tiamat Sacrament has been added to the queue. Who knows when I'll reach it, though. Inside is a horror game, too, isn't it?
