CloseWell, Oedipus was staked to the top of a hill through his ankles as a baby (abortion in ancient times!!). He was rescued by shepperds. He didn't know he killed his father on some random Greek road some 30 years later, but did manage to seduce the widowed queen. Who was his mom. When he found out, he tore his eyes out of their sockets.

Moving on from this Oedipus guy. Does anyone feel that politics makes them angry when talked about. Does anyone really care about it that much?
I'm obsessed with politics, personally. I follow it very closely. I'm pretty opinionated on and vocal on my beliefs, and sometimes stupid people do make me angry when discussing it.

I'm not entirely sure what kind of politics I have. It varies from day to day but I'm fairly content with what I have and have no great desire to feel overly opinionated about major political topics. Instead I tend to activate myself slightly in very local politics. Decisions that are made on town-level and there are specific issues I have issues with.
Generally I follow the regular political mold where I live. Slightly on the socialist side but also fairly conservative in the socialist views. Throw in a bit of healthy xenophobia and a dislike toward vegan hippie people that want farmers to be ecological while never have been within five kilometers of a farm in their life. I'm also a bit of a nationalist.
So yeah my spectrum is fairly wide and I like to try to see the opposite side of any one's argument.

Politics doesn't really tend to make me angry. I don't really follow it that much or am interested in it that much. So long as our country is being run properly i don't really care.

Well, the answer to that lies in the people that are running the country.
And we elect who is running the country. So all these apathetic Americans who don't care about politics and don't vote are part of the larger issue. Silence is acceptance.

You'd be suprised how dauntingly accurate the phrase "what goes around comes around" is.
You may not think the country's current ineffectual leadership has harmed you directly, but if this ship (country) sinks, you better pack your bags and head for the hills because everyone will sink with it.
It's up to an active citizenry to save America's dying cultural legacy / economy. "Not caring" about the people who pull the strings on you and everyone else is basically a slow, silent, unfree death.

If you feel that YOUR vote really doesn't count, and you spread that mentality to the people closest to you, who in turn do the same, it becomes a giant symphony of apathy that permeates hundreds of thousands... hell.. millions of people. Suddenly the votes of millions "don't count." If your vote doesn't count, whose vote does? Some shady conspiracy cult that runs the world?

good thinking, maybe your right... but still, its just the way i think and feel, which i will never change. i, like you am allowed to share my way of thinking just like everyone else in the forum.
Maybe he's right? You whining about how your vote doesn't count is stupid if you don't actually vote. Of course it doesn't count, because you don't even bother to cast it. Men and women struggled and died for years to earn the right to vote, and you do them all a great disservice with your "meh" attitude.

Every vote counts. Many of our famous elections have been close with the victor winning by 1 or 2 votes. But you shoudln't have to vote though. I feel that it is a choice, whether you care about your country that much.
When I become Emperor, everyone will be forced to vote under threat of fines. Some countries actually do this already, Australia for example. The irony will be that, since I am Emperor, your vote really won't count then. And I'll use the fine money to fuel my military war machine.

Not that im considering your opinions irrelevant, i just dont care about countries, neither governments, sorry i understand the importance about it to some point, same as some importance some people see in religion, but then again, its not my thing to worry about such things... since i do not believe in neither.
