When I become Emperor, everyone will be forced to vote under threat of fines. Some countries actually do this already, Australia for example. The irony will be that, since I am Emperor, your vote really won't count then. And I'll use the fine money to fuel my military war machine.

You would make a great leader Maoville. ;)
Thankyou very much. Does politics tend to make many people really mad and have resulted in broken up relationships or friendships? As for me i have lost a friend due to an arguement in involving the leaders of the country.

hahaha see? thats why i dont even bother with things, i bet the government didnt try to help you get your friend back... cause they didnt even know you exist in the first place. I grew up hearing through the news and living up a lot of stupid crap like frauds within the government back in my country, its why since a kid i never believed in any rulers, and never will.

This is the worst logic I have ever seen. You think the government should be responsible for helping you get your friend back? And how on Earth do you expect the government to know the lives of every citizen personally? Do you want your own personal congressman? Sorry, that's what you're for. You're your own best publicist and if you want to make changes, vote for them.

The media is generally as untrustworthy as they make the government appear to be. Since the advent of cable news networks needing 24 hour coverage, they've resorted to finding any type of story and running with it. Or doing narrowcasting. In the good old United States, the media has went from being trusted by over two-thirds of the people to being trusted by less than one-third within my own lifetime, and it doesn't appear as if that will be reversing itself, especially with the advent of the internet.

I understand what your saying. I have never believed in the goverment actually caring more for it's citizens. Instead they mostly care for themselves and what the future holds for them.

Yes, i've run out of things to say on Politics. Anyone else have anything to say on this topic?

I'd like to point out that the actual topic of politics was barely even touched. It didn't even get past

"I don't vote because I don't care."
"WHAT? Non-voting scum!"

I'm registered Democrat, but I can't vote in the primaries this year, so it doesn't even really matter. I get to vote for whoever in the general election. I'll probably have to fill an absentee, though, considering I'd be going off to college (out-of-state, more than likely).

I don't pay too much attention to politics, though, except when I'm researching who I'd vote for. Though, I have been keeping up a little bit with Fred Thompson, since I was considering voting for him. Not anymore; his view on many issues are WAY off of mine. I might look into Obama, just because. I'm not voting for Hillary. Not because she's a woman, but because she's goody-goody with Jack Thompson. That's a NO in my book any day.

... I probably didn't even mention a thing about the original topic, but hey, I'm lazy; four pages is a lot, especially considering that it seems the topic wasn't discussed anyways.

(for the record, I'm centrist with leans towards liberalism and statism)

I'm generally the same, but leaning toward conservatism and not liberalism. Not that it matters for me anyway. For next year's election, I'll be just a week to young to vote. :'(

You are right about that. Lately it has just been about holbert becoming emperor. ;) Anyway, what are everyone's views on Hillary Clinton? Would any of use actually vote for her? I myself wouldn't simply for one reason. I don't like her or her views. (i know it sounds a little harsh)
Well if we're going to take the topic seriously...

My family considers me a liberal, but I think I'm more of a neo-conservative if anything. I'm fairly moderate as far as the liberal-vs-conservative thing goes, but I'm very heavily on the side of libertarianism rather than authoritarianism, which in the south translates to "Bleeding Heart Liberal" I guess. I'm in favor of the minimum amount of government possible without succumbing to anarchy, except in the case where if a government doesn't take the power, the corporations will. I believe that a capitalist economic system requires a healthy dose of socialism to keep from screwing the consumer and the worker, and that capitalism is to be preferred to any other economic system I've heard of.

I think that a revolution is taking place at the moment that people aren't paying enough attention to, largely because of the advent of the internet and other technologies, and that globalization is an inevitable consequence. I also think that many of the world's current political and economic systems are going to be lost entirely soon because of the realities imposed by new technology, and replaced with something new and hopefully better. I don't believe in utopias, though.

My favorite politicians of all time are probably Teddy Roosevelt and Thomas Jefferson, and maybe Winston Churchill. I'm also sort of fond of Trotsky, because his first reaction to Stalin's intimidation tactics in the bolshevik party was basically to write essays about what a bastard he was. I was quite pleased to once be compared to Snowball from Animal Farm.
