Honestly, this is great news. This here is something people have been clamoring for for a long time. I personally will be picking this up as it'll be 2nd gen with 4th gen mechanics. It's the perfect pokemon game!

As for the Pokemon games, I've never been a fan. To me they seem like offline MMORPGs, which equals boredom and tediousness. Shin Megami Tensei 3, also a "collect them all" type game, was a blast, though, thanks to clever battle mechanics and unique presentation and story. Pokemon has none of these qualities. So a pass for me.

I'm curious to what they'll add or change (if anything). I doubt these will really add anything to the postgame and competative playing that Platinum already doesn't have so this might only be good for the story game

I was really happy when I saw this on Ign.com I am going to buy these the day it comes out. However please nintend let me battle random people worldwide. Make a point system like in Mario Kart Wii.

I'm going to be the asshole nostalgia fag and say that this is yet another excuse for gamefreak/nintendo to not have to come up with another set of pokemans and yet still milk the franchise.
G/S is my favorite pokemon game mainly because it's generation of pokemon didn't look retarded (it goes downhill after R/S) not to mention it was really advanced for the time being on the gameboy color to have a time system, a trainer friends list, A BADASS RIVAL WHO DIDN'T TAKE SHIT FROM ANYBODY, and the entire kanto region mapped out as an extra.
Having said that I lacked interest in R/S + D/P and doubt I'll ever enjoy some remake.

The grinding to make a competitive team is reminiscent of MMORPG grinds, however; unlike MMORPGs; you can cheat easily to skip the grind and nobody can really tell the difference... Unless you're really careless.
They can remake crystal later to grab more cash from stupid children.
I think it's dumb that they didn't just remake Crystal. I get annoyed with the two versions thing.

Anyway, I was a huge fan of G/S. Unfortunately, Nintendo has been unable to capture (GET IT HAR HAR) the magic of them. It is sad that Nintendo has no intention of pushing Pokemon into the territory where it would truly be a phenomenon.
I can't wait for Adamantium and Mithril.
Also, I really liked Gold (note: I have only played Gold and Yellow). It's not really my type of game, though, so I haven't played it since. Seeing as I still have my GBA, I don't need to buy a remake either. =P

I'll wait for the Crystal version unless I can find it for half it's RRP like I did with Pearl.
As for the comments on fooling "children" into buying this game again, it's not what Nintendo wanted. More so what the hardcore fans were begging them to release.

I remember Gold. My brother lost that along with my old black Gameboy. Red & Blue are still the best as they were the first and only real ones I enjoyed. Couldn't even play the new ones that came out on the GBA. I don't have a DS anyway.
