WHAT IS AN ASSERTION FAILURE?

Posts

Pages: 1
I came across a random Assertion Failure while making my game. I fixed it by changing the health of one of my characters, but I would like to see if someone knows exactly what it is so I don't go across it again. Does someone know?
An assert(condition) failed

Need more info, like maker
Dang, I have no idea for 2k3

Out of curiosity, was it in the editor or the game?
you mean what happens in the event? It just says change character to another character, that's all.
He means, when are you seeing the error. Do you see the error when you start the maker up, or do you see the error when you play-test your game?

I apologize.
One at a time n_n! First, Max, It's okay, don't worry about it! Two, it happens while I'm testing the game and trigger an event in a battle that switches characters, that's all!
What is the event doing exactly? (the actual Rm2k3 code)

I'm not comfortable with any idea that can't be expressed in the form of men's jewelry

Assertion Failures are typically really bad things. Smells like you're hitting a bug in the engine.
Hm, then do you know exactly what I shouldn't do to make sure it doesn't happen again? I fixed it this time, but I want to make sure something similar doesn't happen again!

I don't know how much different this is between 2k and 2k3, but I've done hero-swapping in-battle events before. Why don't you post the list of script lines that you're using (as GRS suggested)?
All it says is "Play light animation; Wait 1.5 seconds; Remove Krystal; Replace Krystal;" And that's when the assertion failure happens! Oh, and I heard about your review forum Halibabica, would you mind reviewing my game? It's Elements of Mikoria! Thank you for your help!

I tried to recreate the script path you used, but it worked just fine for me. I'm not sure what the problem is. Try to figure out which line of script is causing the error. Remove single lines temporarily and test until the event works like it's supposed to. Once you know where the problem is, we might have better luck correcting it.

Also, I'll add your game to my review queu, altough I'd prefer of people asked in the thread itself. Sometimes I forget to check back on topics like this.
