A traditional RPG with a somewhat backwards aim: To force players to adapt to new situations, by kicking out the tried-and-true supports that they have relied upon in every other RPG.

Notable gameplay differences:
  • No Items: Poisoned? Pop an antidote! ...Unless you're poisoned in this game. Then you get to live with the damage. Many of the fallbacks traditional to the series, such as carrying 99 Potions/Revives/Status Cures are inviable here.
  • Weaknesses: In most RPGs, having a weakness to a given element is trivial - a healing spell will counteract it in most cases. No so here - weaknesses multiply damage from a given element by 5, meaning manipulation of resistances and elemental rock-paper-scissors in critical to success.
  • No Grinding: Killing hundreds of thousands of slimes is the key to success in many RPGs. Here, every foe has a level, and once you're two or more levels higher than a given enemy, they stop yielding experience.

In order to alleviate some of the soul-crushing disorientation these changes can cause, some concessions are given to the player:
  • Recharge: Every character is capable of recovering their level in SP on their turn. While measly and useless to start, it becomes worth using around level 8-10.
  • EXP Handicap: Being lower level than your foes grants obscene amounts of bonus experience.
  • Enemy Species: Higher-level enemies of the same species tend to have the same movesets, merely with higher-level skills and attack patterns.
  • Mercy Freeze: Enemies on the map freeze for a short while after a battle concludes. This gives the player opportunity to escape a cluster of foes, ambush an enemy group, or nab a nearby box.

December 20th, 2012

A young man recieves a call from his girlfriend, inviting him over to watch a movie or two. The couple, laying about on the couch, watches the actors onscreen portray their roles as the hours pass. Midnight arrives.

The world ends.

The sky is cast a dark red, and the sun turns as black as coal. Where once the streets were walked by people, they are now host to beings of night, unclean creatures that seek the flesh of the living.

The couple discovers their talent to fend off these creatures, and they flee for their lives.

What's going on? Are there any survivors? How did this happen? Is it just our city, or is it the entire state? The country? The world? What do we eat? Where do we sleep?

...Can we ever be safe again?

Hero's Realm v1.5

Verrrrry minor, but critical fix. Basically combines that mini-patch for v1.4 and v1.4 itself. So, if you have the patched version of v1.4 already, you don't need this.

A village's residents have vanished and a rumormonger has set out to discover why. He begins staying in the small hamlet and investigating the cause of the vanishings, only to find that reality is shifting before his eyes; that his nights are tormented by the words of The Prophet...

Visions & Voices is an adventure RPG made in only three weeks by Karsuman and Craze. It combines elements of traditional RPGs with the exploration present in an adventure game in order to create a fun - and quite dark - setting to play in.

Features:
-Fast-paced ATB battles
-Deep exploration and discovery
-Unique stats based on personality traits
-Several strong bosses to test your power
-Recruitable allies
-In-game help menu

Perfect for a weekend or a long, rainy afternoon, Visions & Voices is only a few hours long and offers a great deal of replayability - and it's free!

Thanks for checking this out,
-Karsuman and Craze

Please do not download this game if you are not yet in High School (or of an equivalent age). There are mature themes in this game, although there is no blood or gore and there are not any explicit scenes.

It is suggested that you read the short "HowToPlay" text file for a run-down on basic keys and gameplay functions. Remember, exploration over mass murder!

There, everything's submitted.

It will be here once accepted.
Hey. I updated the Solar Tear Demo, removed a few bugs and tried to balance things out a bit more. Nothing too exciting.

http://www.rpgmaker.net/games/241/

I haven't got anything more done for this RS. I didn't realize that I had so much more preparation to do for my current project.

But im participating? :) I know there are still some folks who haven't played this so...

EDIT: IF I CAN GET RMN TO WORK THAT IS >:(
I guess I probably shouldn't make a forum post as well.

Notes on the Second Mellynd War Demo - Chapters 1 & 2

A very 19th-Century RPG, following university-student-turned-reporter Amos Hardie, as he comes to terms with the prospect of a second Great War. A grimy steampunk adventure with traces of humour, black or otherwise.

Formerly called 'Universal Language'.

Download is up!

Synopsis
In the years 303-304, the continent of Mellynd was torn apart by what is now known as the Great War â€" the country of Leyland fighting against the invading Orville, and their ally, Edgos. Eventually, Leyland absorbed a small nation, Kilnan, and, after the succession of a new leader, Edgos defected, allowing Orville to be defeated by Leyland and its new allies.

Now, eight years later, in the Leylandian industrial town of Fenheim, bright eighteen-year-old Amos Hardie attends the prestigious University of Fenheim. As one of the only grammar school boys there, he is finding it a less than enjoyable experience, and his only friends at the university are the other Fenheim resident, Eugene, and shy posh lad Lester. Having moved in with Amos and Eugene in town, Lester must now meet Amos' blue-collar friends, including but not limited to saturnine Lawrence, put-upon Isabel and childhood-friend-turned-moronic-bitch Elvira. However, a bloody revolution in Edgos will change the lives of Amos and friends beyond recognition, and spell ill-fortune for the people of all three nations.

Meanwhile, Edgosian secret policeman Mark, recovering from a severe bout of insanity, tries his best to flee the country under its revolutionary regime, and young Leylandian lordling Cyril Avenbury takes a visit that doesn't quite go as planned to one of his father's political allies in the countryside.

Why you should play it

- Notes on the Second Mellynd War takes place in a historical hodgepodge vaguely tongue-in-cheek world inspired very much by 19th Century England (and the bordering countries may seem a little familiar, as well). The continent of Mellynd boasts a well-developed political landscape.

- Has received praise for the plot and dialogue. Probably a good thing, for an essentially story-based game.

- The idea of magic-like abilities only features minimally, in the ‘steamglove' skills in battles, and other than that, the story is largely reliant on human conflict, and not reincarnated gods, magical demons, and the like.

- A traditional RPG using RM2K3's DBS.

- A love-letter to Inspired by classic RM2K games, such as Legion Saga and Three The Hard Way, than more recent RPG Maker games â€" evident in the lack of graphical consistency in the screenshots (intentional nostalgic ‘scrapbook' effect. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it) Hopefully, NotSMW will remind you of the RM2K games of old. Preferably the good ones!

- The game will follow the ‘Suikoden' formula of a large headquarters, a lot of recruitable characters, and occasional 'attack-defend-wild attack' duels. In the demo, there is a maximum of 13 permanent playable characters… as well as a handful of temporaries.

- A feature of RM2K3 not many games seem to employ â€" rearrange your party as you choose, and control any member of your party whilst exploring.

- This game was created by a borderline obsessive! If you're into speaking to bookcases and objects, good spelling and plot consistency, then you're in luck!

Screenshots

This is to be the last demo before the full release. It is fairly long, and, unlike the last demo, contains the entire Chapter 2 â€" though the shortest chapter, and a bit of an atypical one, focusing slightly more on all of the politicians than the already-established characters. The chapters to follow should feel a bit like a cross between Chapter 1 and Chapter 2.

Although there have been significant revisions, there is a savefile included at the end of Chapter 1 for those who played the 'Universal Language' demo to completion and don't fancy going through it again.

So, there's my game.
I release two non-game related things. Except of course that they were originally based on a tabletop RPG I worked on some time ago.

Zombies in Space Teaser #2 (With English Subtitles! I finally got them to work)

Suprise attack - Special effects extravaganza!
Thought Battletoads was hard? Ghouls n' Ghosts? Grow a set of balls, and feel that same rage all over again: doubled. I present to you:

Knight's Crest is a considerably irritating dungeon crawl made in the style of an NES game. The game was basically a project I made for myself with the intentions of getting a game done, and finally making a game where I was just a huge dick to the player. This game is being released in a doublepack with Darken's project: Nastrond.

Plot

In early England, all is in disorder. The king seeks to do naught but feed his own purse, and none have power to object. Mercenaries vulture the land as parasites, feeding off the broken country's remains.

Alastair, a mercenary who is little different than the king, will stop at nothing for his share of gold. He counts heads like bags of money, and sees hearts like archers' targets for practice. After slaughtering the Prince Arthur of Castle Odell, pawn to the Norman Invasion led by Duke William, he is tossed aside as another useless sellsword. He takes up arms once again as he is requested by the mayor of the Village Laput to see the last breath of the demon Beelzebub, a ghastly creature that laid curse to every man and child in the village.

Alastair's crawl through the endless dungeon bears more complication than one might think, as he presses into the very pits of hell to do battle with the Lord of the Flies.

A screen of battle, where instead of having an Attack option, you are given a list of different attacks specific enemies are weak against and resistant to.

Welcome to the crawl, boys.

Update: This is the fixed version. It may still have some bugs.

Chromatica: A Colorful Tale (Gasp! It's NOT Dragon Kingdoms!)

The world has lost its color. No, really. Everything is in shades of gray, black and white. Prism Town, once the most colorful place on Palette Planet, is now a dull place. What has to be done to restore the color to this once vivid land? And who could be behind it? You'll have to play it to see.

(Inspired by Quest for Color)

Features:
Although only one dungeon is completed now, it will have 13 dungeons when finished, and all but two are accessible at any time. Be warned, though. Enemies will become stronger with each new area you complete.

Screenshots:

I wonder if it's possible to change the color of the menus, too, because if it is, I'll be changing it to better fit the atmosphere of the game.

It didn't quite make Release Something, but it will be coming before the month's over, barring unforeseen circumstances.

Pokemon Hunter 3: The Search for Curly's Gold*

Go check it out sometime. This is the only of my games that hasn't received a review yet, so if anyone's interested, I'd be very thankful.

Project 51 Demo Gamepage. Very incomplete and probably unbalanced, but it's something.
I have to get to a wedding today so I'm-a make this quick:

KC(A)#4.5! Oh shi--

I'll put some screenshots or whatever up when I get home tonight, if people really want them. And update the game's page on this site. Basically this contains all the stuff I was going to have in KC(A)#4 back in 2007 before I canned it. So you're not getting a new demo so much as the demo you should have gotten two years ago.

Sorry, this probably doesn't mean the game is un-canceled. I threw this together from stuff in my notes and archives in just a couple days. I probably wouldn't have even done this much if statistic's fanart hadn't warmed the cockles of my cold, iron heart. =)
Whee so apparently I forgot to put in some teleport events! ;o_o

So would the one person that downloaded the thing please redownload the new version (v 0.1.01 when it's accepted)? It'd help tons! (Not that you're really missing much. Just the one part of plot that I included in the place that you aren't able to get to. >_>)

Cheeseohol 2

I wanted to make a small demo with the modified sphere engine I have, but I didn't have time to finish it, so I'll release this (which also uses the modified engine). It wasn't released it on RM yet, so it's new to you!

Anyway, this game is a beer drinking game. Basically, you connect up to four wiimotes to your pc (via bluetooth), strap beers to them, and then angle the beer to move forward, sip to attack, and chug (completely invert the bottle) to do a special attack.

If you don't have wiimotes or a bluetooth connection, you can still play it single player with just a mouse, but obviously it's not as fun. ;)

Additionally, this video shows it being played from 0:08 to 0:41.

Game Page

When you download the game, just extract the zip, and run engine.exe.
PATH OF LIGHT

Just a slightly improved demo that I released a while ago. It fixes some bugs and adds a little more content.
