SOUL CALIBUR 4 MAKES ME WANT TO PUNCH BABIES.
Posts
Fighting games become much more advanced than just rock paper scissors, in the high level it all comes down to knowing what your opponent is going to do, but he knows that you know what he might do, so he'll counter with something you might not think he might use but then you also... Yeah. People believe that players like Daigo can read minds.
Yeah I realize that fighting games are more complex than rock paper scizzors. All I'm saying is that if you don't block you become more predictable.
But you will get punched less
Really? The biggest problem you have is the difficulty?
Ugh, Soul Calibur 4 was like a giant leap behind Soul Calibur 3. The story mode was poooor.

Sounds like you need to play Evil Zone. The story mode's premise is that these fights are being broadcasted on TV by the character whose story mode you are doing. (Okay, this may seem retarded if you miss the point and take it seriously...)

"Good evening. This is Keiya. Tonight's letter is from Mr. Linedwell Rainrix with no permanent address. He writes, "Recently I have a severe headache. When I have a headache, someone starts talking to me in my head. This letter I'm writing right now...er...sorry, disregard this letter please. No, it's not me, someone else is writing this. I..." I...It's hard to figure out the rest. I think you should go to a hospital right away. Now next week, I'll be fighting a self-destructive man. Please watch the next Tenpouin episode, the ninth night, "Wish." By the way Mr. Rainrix, you forgot to put a stamp on it."

If I don't need to block to win, what is my motivation?
Play better players. If you can beat someone by button mashing repeatably, their skill is probably in the negatives.
I cannot think of a single fighting game where the story mode wasn't retarded somehow.
King of Fighters.

Dissidia.

Yes, because a huge Final Fantasy crossover is going to have an awesome plot.
You know, just like Kingdom Hearts. And Ehrgeiz.
I can't speak for the story, but I hear the game itself is actually really, really good.
...And King of Fighters! I'd say the overall story in KoF is better constructed than many RPGs.

If I am playing a fighting game I watch the story text to laugh at it.
I just play fighting games to...well, play. Not to read.

Me as well! But I'm just contesting your previous claim!
I actually need to get 'back' into fighting games. They're probably my favorite genre, and I've been playing them ever since I was a little kid. Back in high school some friends and I used to play competitively, and some of them still go all over the East Coast in tournaments and whatnot. If there's ever the unified interest, I'll set up a tournament here one day.
