SMT: DEVIL SURVIVOR
Posts
I feel like a bit of a noob coming in here and saying this among all the lovers, but I was pretty much meh about this game.
I don't know if i quit too early or what, but i just wasn't enjoying it. There was no sense of freedom whatsoever, apart from the options to choose who to speak to in the next location, and which demon to use. It was just one piece of storyline to the next, with battles and fusion inbetween(which wouldve been ace if the story'd grabbed me)..
I was so hyped about it as well, maybe I should go back and try it again. I feel like i should be enjoying this game, I love SMT, but I just can't be bothered. There's nothing there that makes me want to carry on. Maybe my attention span's shortened after watching the teevee about 40 hours straight. Also, i really want some cake.

Yeah I managed to beat the zealots and I'm fighting Beldr now. I'm putting up a fight, but his minions always get me. I'm doing some free battling to try and get some macca for some better demons to fuse. I could get a level 22 King Frost, but I'd be giving up a good Orcus and a kind-of-alright Yuki Jyorou...
I take back what I said. Elemental weaknesses are life and death. This game is really making me think more now, and it's getting even better. This game has more strategic depth than any SRPG I've yet played. I love it.
EDIT: Fucking Beldr and his fucking cait siths. Fuck.

Use spoilers people. ._.
Spoilers/Hide tags don't work yet so I'd suggest just staying away from the topic :(
I'm on Day 4 now and Beldr wasn't that bad. I did lose some demons though but "mission completed"! Double Up is pretty useful against him.
I'm also on the 4th day. I've taken DE's advice and pumped the main chara's magic to like.. 27, so now his team pretty much 1-hit kills everything.
Atsuro was lagging behind for a while until I picked up Berserk for him. Now he runs sniper duty with Double Up (Can attack twice) and Evil Wave (Can attack from 2 tiles away).
How much do the main chara's dialogue choices influence the flow of the game? Seems like its possible to miss characters/events if you don't see the right people or say the right things.

I know it's possible to do 6 character routes in one playthrough with the right dialogue options, so presumably a lot.
You can get two optional characters if you manage to save them, although I'm not sure if they'll follow you in every route you choose on day 6. It shouldn't be too hard to do, however you CAN miss them; one of them died on me during my first playthrough :(

I have this game. I like it. It really lets you experiment with the familiar SMT mechanics in ways that other SMT games haven't really. Choosing which skills your demons inherit is really useful!
I don't like the story as much as you guys seem to, though. It's just kind of . . . talkie-talkie. I don't really get that much out of the dialogue but there is so much of it.

I'm not too big on the story either, but I do like the engine used to protray it. It's the kind of thing that'd be quick and easy to emulate in game-making.
I'm on day 6 now, and my invincible team is quickly becoming not so invincible. Though it's usually a matter of being the first to act so that I can wipe out their team before they can wipe out mine.
EDIT: Just beat the final fight of Day 6. It was down to the wire.
