Hmmm you guys have some good advice with the whole girl thing, but what about his shyness? I too, am a pretty shy person most of the time. The best way I deal with it, is psyche yourself in. You gotta get pumped man. You gotta get in there and freakin' beast it! TESTOSTERONE GET SOME! WOO!

I can't really help you out much. All I can say is that she was someone I'd not known previously, we started up a conversation, I put my arm around her almost without realising it and things just kinda went from there.

Be casual, be yourself and don't go looking for love, let it find you. Best advice I can give.

fool proof way to start a convo:

- look lost
- ask for directions (to place you are going/washroom/place you are going later)
- ask if she (or he!?) knows the place well/lives around there/etc
- invite her to place in question (bonus for washroom invitations)
- summon cupid GF

haahaha - if you're not joking - not to burst your bubble or anything..but i find it really creepy when guys do stuff like that.

I'd suggest not doing the whole 'do you have the time? Oh my, it seems you have your mobile out, you might as well give me your number then,' as well, it's truly the lamest way of trying to get a girl.

I'd say try and step out of your comfort zone once in a while, it doesn't really matter how you do it(i know it's easy to say and all that..). Also, try not to think about yourself all the time when you're speaking. It can be obvious when you're thinking about your actions too much, so if you concentrate on the people around you instead, you appear more confident.
As well as this, try to get past looks, don't assume that someone won't want to speak with you because of how they/you look, girls find it attractive when a guy treats everyone equally no matter who they are(unless they're pricks).
