THE AMERICAN DREAM

There's no question the ethos of the united states is "The American Dream". It's not mentioned much more, because the lack of faith people give it.

My history teacher told me it was "To be your own master"

Wikipedia said "To live in a land of prosperity"

Out of curiosity, what do you think the American Dream is?
Are we sure that you aren't some sort of survey bot, with all these questions about America you've been giving us? Or do you need it for a school project or something?

I think the American Dream is to slack off as much as possible whilst getting rich off of developing countries. (Which is now just that, a dream...)
I kind of wondered this with the other topic you made, but is this homework help or something?

Anyway, from what I've gathered, The American Dream is to be richer than everyone else.
CROSS THE SHIT OVER THE DELAWARE

I think the american dream can be anything at all. I don't think it was ever given a specific meaning.
You know what old account taken over by a survey bot? I'm not answering any more surveys on the internett except at those scam sites that are going to pay me money for each one I fill out after my balance reaches above $500!
One time I had a dream that I had a chili dog

Then I woke up and realized I was still homeless and living in a cardboard box

The American Dream is whatever GEODUDE SAYS it is.
I think you all need more faith in America. Consider how much better than other countries we're doing right now. Consider the values, time, and wisdom it took us to get there! Count your blessings people! Also, for those of you non-Americans, please don't have such a low view of us. We're not ALL fat rich white slobs like you might think we are. Some of us are really cool.

Thank God that's not true.
being very much british I sincerely doubt it also
The American Dream is clawing and scraping your way to the top, and staying there long enough to be enough of a douchebag about it that you are then given your own ass in reprisal, and then you discover the real meaning of Christmas.

All lessons of American history and culture indicate this.

Further proof that douchebags are not limited to the U.S.
i.. i'm truly cut up..
If- as a Canadian- I discard any sort of negative opinion of America that comes from pop culture, and really let the massive cultural influence of America come out of hiding and let itself have room to think and breathe and applied this concept of the American dream to what I consider it for myself, I think it would be about having the freedom to move where you want, to quit the job you don't like, to start a new life when you want, and to provide for those you love.

Ladies and gentlemen, the run-on sentence.
Canonically, isn't the American dream something along the lines of "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness"?
