THE 9 THINGS THAT I HAVE LEARNED FROM THE RMNCASTS
Posts
Nothing wrong with pauses in dialogue unless they're overused. Slow text speed on the other hand, I can do without. I won't go as far to say that it spoiled Ascendence for me, but it was definately annoying.

Seems Enterbrain got wise for VX then. It should be adjustable in-game.
Really, the SHIFT suggestion was merely a compromise for those, as Brickroad says, could be incovenienced out of playing it for that reason alone (granted that separate download would suffice, NightBlade, not a bad idea). I mean, it seems clear to me that if you aren't enjoying a game for any reason, it's simple enough to find something more enjoyable to do.
I think when I actually complete a finished product, I will make two versions, one with some pauses and the other totally devoid of them. Seems that would sate the community divide, no?
EDIT: I love how this has become "The ONE thing I learned from RMNCasts"
You misunderstood me. I was considering getting a demo out that removed the pauses and just deleting the one that had pauses.

All the repetition has finally convinced me. Dialog should never have pauses.
I too have been convinced.
The trouble now is going through all my dialogue boxes and removing them...
Yeah. don't use pauses.
Chances are, someone out there might feel your prose is lacking. And then they'd wanna skip it.

I really don't mind pauses unless they're in every single box. Personally I only use them for an event like a character actually does something and emotes on the screen. If they're just talking I'll use ... as it's enough to show the speaker paused. Sometimes I won't use them or more.
One thing I actually do hate is slow text. I don't like playing a game that has dialog progress slower than me typing this post.
