I just downloaded the maker today and am trying to work on a game, I have checked the help section and browsed a few of the resource pages without figuring out a simple thing, how do I move the main character starting point on a map?
Click the Start Party Position icon and draaaaag it around. It's probably in the Events Layer.

Or, you can right-click anywhere in the Events layer and select "Starting Point", or something similar.

EDIT: But I guess you've found it already. Anything else you need to know?
Yeah, good to see some new faces.
If you have any other concerns, don't hesitate to ask! =)
It may help in some situations if we know what RPG Maker you got. Also, nice to have you here! ;)
I am using RMXP and I am trying to make the first scene which is using the Farm Village in tile set, a couple questions, first is there a graphic for an open door, if so how would I set up a trigger so that when a character walks into a closed door it becomes an opened door?

You'd put the door on the map as an event, then in the event editor have the door character set change to the opened frame with the move event command when the hero presses enter or whatever.
To make it a little more specific, to make it look realistic, tour move event command for the door should look like this.

:Turn Left
:Wait 4 Frames
:Turn Right
:Wait 4 Frames
:Turn Up
:Wait 4 Frames

And then do the transfer player. If you want, add sounds for the door opening and shutting too.

Good thing RMXP is what I use too.
