MANGA RECCOMONDATIONS

Anyone read any good manga recently? Here's my recommendation for today--

TEKKONKINKREET: BLACK AND WHITE

White is an innocent eleven-year-old who's just a bit dim. Black is a street-wise, slightly off-balanced thirteen-year-old with a big metal pipe. The two boys live in an old broken-down car in Treasuretown, a district of Osaka that's seen better times. Flying (yes, flying) from building to building, they fight off rival gang members, yakuza, alien assassins and whoever else is unlucky enough to trespass into what Black calls "his city". But when an old yakuza known as the Rat returns to his roost, change may be in the air. Unfortunately, Rat isn't even the worst of it...

Yes, it's extremely violent, and the art style takes some getting used to. But the story is presented extremely well, the art looks like no other manga on earth, the relationship between Black and White is expertly rendered and the ending is absolutely insane. Plus, it's just been reprinted in an omnibus edition--600 pages, with color, blown up to full size. Can't go wrong with that!

There was also a Tekkonkinkreet movie that came out a few months ago as well, although reactions have been rather mixed, to say the least. Most agree it's a really good-looking movie, but from that point on people either seem to think it's the best animated movie they've seen in years or a boring, nonsensical piece of rubbish, or somewhere in between.

A trailer is below, and...well, it's a pretty awesome trailer, whether you like the movie or not. Good music.

The manga's definitely worth reading, though. At least.

Of course, the only manga worth anyone's time is the super obscure japanese Transformers manga that continued the Generation One storyline on forever. Star Convoy (Prime) vs. Super Megatron! Battlestars!

Anything is not worth your time.

It's a manga about a 5 year old girl going about her daily life. It's fun, you should read it. They have 1-5 in stores already.
The main manga that i read are Naruto and One Piece when they eventually come into store. I am also interested in Hunter X Hunter, it's not a bad manga.
I would like to nominate With the Light for the WTF. If, for no other reason, than to name something other than yet another Shonen Jump series.
I like reading the Fullmetal Alchemist and Inuyasha manga as well. Nearly as good as the shows.
Yeah, Fullmetal Alchemist is absolutely insane. The show was pretty good (arguably one of the best), but the manga has three times the scale, much higher stakes and it hasn't even finished yet.
The other day i picked up a manga made by the same artist who made Bleach. Tite Kubo. It's called Zombiepowder and isn't all that bad from what i've read so far. Not so sure how many volumes there actually are though.
There should only be around 4 volumes of Zombie Powder.
I liked that series.
Tite Kubo dropped that series and made
BLEACH afterwards.
I hope Kubo returns to it.
I really liked it.

Some good Shoujo genre manga series I would
recommend would be :
Skip-Beat (not really all about love, more like revenge and renewal)
Godchild (several biblical references)
But if you're into the pent up love frustration shoujo,
AND like ninja,
Tail of the Moon would be a good read for you.

I don't read a whole lot of Shounen,
or Seinen for that matter.

Good series would be Midori Days for humor,
DeathNote is seinen since it's targeted to a more
mature audience,
GetBackers is good for action..
tons of reading though...

I highly reccomend the manga Buddha. Follows the life of Siddhartha Gautama and explores the value of life and why we live. Made by Tezuka, father of manga. :P
