Hey guys, I've played a lot of games where people are using MP3s that either fade out incorrectly, don't loop, or are just way too huge. I can fix these files for you! Just post here with a link and let me know what you want.

- I can make it loop seamlessly
- I can clip out unnecessary portions that loop within the file to reduce filesize
- I can also increase the speed by 50% if you want to play it at half tempo in RM2k/3 to reduce the filesize (with no noticeable loss in quality!)

I'm still using MIDIs until I finish my own RPG, but in the mean-time I'd be more than happy to assist anyone who are making that MP3 jump and would like a little optimization.
Awesome. I'll definitely take you up on that offer.
Oi! I'd like to take advantage of this little offer if you don't mind, Dragonheartman~!

I'd like it if that one looped seamlessly (if possible), if you don't mind.

The same with this one:

Why not just show how to do it?

Build a man a fire, teach a man to build a fire, etc.

it would save you from getting swamped too

I use audacity's shift + play to loop play and mixmeister's BPM analyzer to get the BPM. From there it's just a little bit of tweaking. Certain songs are easier than others obviously, but I'm an amateur DJ so I think every bit of practice helps.

The two of these took about thirty minutes to do. It's fun and I enjoy it, but if someone else is also interested I could go in a bit more depth. :]

@Ephiam:
I got both of them to loop seamlessly; however, I think I cropped a bit more than I would have liked in the first one. Still, give them a listen in RM* and let me know if they work.

Cool, I'm glad I could help. *thumbs*
This is a rather large request. Feel to free to work on this at your leisure or not at all, I know it's really a lot to ask to sort through this many songs. Thanks in advance for any time you may be able to spare.

Starting on this now. (Gaussian Blur <3)
Thanks a lot, I really appreciate you taking the time to do this. If you're curious both Gaussian Blur songs were custom made for this project by a guy named Kilgamesh. He's also written several other songs, but they already loop well so I didn't include them here.

I've heard those two songs before, that's weird. They're pretty popular downloadable songs for the game Stepmania. I didn't realize Kil wrote them for your project. o_o

Also I currently have 7/20 of the songs looped. I'll reupload them all in a big rar file when I finish up.
He actually wrote them for an rpgmaker 2000 project I was making a very very long time ago...that i never ended up publicly releasing. Sadly he hasn't written much of anything in the last few years (other than random songs for a super mario hack he's been working on lately).

I'm surprised to come across someone who's heard of him.

Yeah, I've heard the Gaussian Blurs and he did a few others called Gaussian Mist right? I tried searching for more of his stuff but beyond that I don't think I found much.

Also, because I don't think it really is important for RM* projects, but when I export these I'm just leaving the ID3 tabs blank. Hope that's cool. :)
Gaussian Mist was actually someone trying to copy him, though he has written other stuff. If you're curious I could gather up all of his songs I still have and send them through your mailbox here. I won't post them in this thread because he would kill me (he hates all his music). I do have to warn you a lot of the stuff is still in midi form and not as awesome as those two songs, but personally I like nearly all of it.

Edit: Leaving the ID tabs blank is fine. This is an XP project if that makes any difference, though I don't think it does. And again, thanks a lot.

Okay, all done.

68.8mb->49.5mb :]

Additional comments are in the included readme. Let me know how it turned out.

PS, Your choice of music makes me excited for your project! I'd love to hear more of his work. My email's dragonheartman@gmail. I won't use them in my own project, if he's worried about that sort of thing.
Everything sounds great, and knocking 20 MB off my project is going to make it a whole lot more manageable (not to mention easier to download). I can't thank you enough for your help, and I'm kind of surprised you managed to do anything with Crying for the Dark Sky.

Glad to hear you're interested in the project, I spent a very long time hunting down appropriate music. With any luck I'll have a demo up on the site in a few weeks.

I've already sent Kil's stuff to your email.

If you've got the time, I'd find it immensely helpful to get a looping version of this. I think there's even a handy loopable spot near the end of the track...

Yup, I will get to that this evening. I love the track! I think it suits your project well. (It will loop very easily too.)

Urge to use MP3s rising...

Also, completely off-topic. I noticed you're in Seattle. Know any good arcades in the area? I'm visiting for labor day weekend.

Oh wow, arcades? I can't remember the last time I saw an arcade. Ages ago, like 10 years+. I know there's one down by Pier 57 at the waterfront in downtown- walked past it a couple times, but I've never gone in. It's hiding down in amongst some touristy stuff. There's a good fish & chips place nearby too, for pre- or post-gaming munchies.

Thanks so much for the help! It's most likely going to be the tune playing in the underground town the main character lives in.

Haha I'll have to look into it. I'm sort of a junkie for arcades. :D

Also I just finished the track. I was going to have it done yesterday but I didn't spend as much time in front of the computer as I had anticipated; however, I think you'll like the results!
