DOES ANYONE ELSE THINK FACEBOOK FEEDS, POLLS, AND QUIZZES ARE THE DOWNFALL OF CIVILIZATION?

Up until yesterday I didn't know what Facebook and Twitter were.
Sometimes it pays to not live in an English speaking country.
Also, speaking English doesn't seem to have much to do with this, Twitter was the big thing to use during the protests in Iran recently.

Facebook is the world #1 social networking site, so that's kind of surprising. (Myspace, for example, is only big in the USA.)
I can't stand Twitter because it is the ulitmate glorification of the exhibition of the self. It goes against my Canadian nature.

Aha so I'm not just a blathering pedantic.
You heard it here first.

While this is true, it doesn't mean it's the biggest networking site in all countries. In Japan everyone has a Mixi account, but only people with some sort of foreign connection have Facebook accounts.
If the long convoluted post was humor, then it went over my head and good show.

in fairness I don't think I have never seen a Japanese person on facebook.
"i don't think i have never" o_O made my brain do a backflip
I saw this Chinese imitation of Facebook that wasn't covered by the school filters, it was well cool.

this is hilarious
I unfortunately have a facebook (which I use to communicate with three-ish friends in college in different parts of the world), and almost all my miscellaneous 300-odd 'friends' are younger than me. Many of them are hardcore facebook addicts. The new big 'thing' is to post a list of your 'stalkers.' There's a facebook application that will calculate who is stalking you based on interaction on your facebook page. I know, creepy.
I hardly ever use facebook, and somehow, I come up on almost everyone's stalker list. On one of them, I was number 3/20.
Eurgh.

fixed.
though the dad thing owns too
I like clicking around on Facebook actually, it has it's uses and I even have some members here as friends. It's a great way to keep up with the guys without using credit and all the people at Uni as well! It's fun to see what everyone is up to. I will say, it can be totally lame when you get updates of someone saying: "I'm eating a piece of chocolate right now"... I don't care about that.
Oh and the quizzes...haha, yeah.

The next era, everyone is going to be using the internet. School will be on the internet, movies, footballs games, etc. I'm not talking about what we do now, I'm talking about the computer is going to become the next television, and TV is going to cease to exist. It's already a given that TV is less watched these days. People tend more to online, games, and movies. In general, the social lifestyle is going to warp in the coming decade more than it already has. Never before have people been able to talk to other people from the other side of the globe. Before, this was called "Pen pals." However, the downside of this is that views will clash, but arguments are to be expected in any social environment.
To tell you the truth, I don't like the online social sites. Mainly because I do not know what type of change it's going to bring socially other than speculation and guessing.
