YOUR FAVORITE TYPE OF THING TO RAID IN RPGS
Posts
Raiding a sewer sounds awesome. Those all sound awesome. The only bad ones would be: Organic Belly, Space Age, and Hedge maze. And even then, a talented developer can make great dungeons out of those.
What is it exactly that makes sewers unpleasant dungeons for everyone? Is it that the design of sewers is generally overused and repeating itself, or is there some "deeper" phobia about sewers?..

Sewers go in straight lines.
pretty much any of those can be good if its well designed and is relevant to the plot (no fillers!)
Sewers are usually just filler dungeons that are only there because the front door to where you really want to go is locked/guarded or whatever, but they don't have to be. I like any dungeon that appear to have thought put into them and have a few unique looking areas. straight lines with nothing to look at make me want to rip my hair out, however.

you guys are going to make me want to make an actually good sewer dungeon, just to prove it can be done
Not counting battles or cutscenes, my sewer dungeon is about a minute long. Does ending quickly make it a good one? : D
Also, I like pretty much anywhere inhabited. Towns, houses, forts, cornershops... whatever.

I hate sewers as much as the next guy, but they can be interesting if used in small bursts like say an abadoned city or something where you have to use part of the sewer system to get past blocked paths. Other than that, sewers are literally shit, I still have nightmares from that sewer maze in Xenogears.
I would love sewer dungeons if there was an Underworld III: Rise of the Lycans videogame. SEX AND FIRE
Sewers are a combination of:
1) Stupid big mazes
2) Completely unintersting and nothing to look at besides shades of brown and shit
3) Annoying puzzles/gimmicks, occasionally involving water
4) Lots of rats and god damn bats
The more combined the exponentially worse the sewer is

number 4 you forgot the overused bio monsters with annoying poison attacks that ENHANCES THE AMAZING SHIT SLUGGING EXPERIENCE with their disgusting sound effects. Man has anyone ever played fucking sewer shark? There should be a game called Sewer Quest, where it's basically an RPG that takes place in a sewer ONLY.
can we rename this topic to "LET'S BITCH ABOUT SEWER LEVELS"

The best IMO are mechanical or ruins one.
Worst are pyramids. I fucking hate them. Never ending maze-like shit with no savepoint, always.
