A 'clean' battle formation in RM2K3? Topic

Either my guys look all scrunched up in their rows or it looks all scattered like in battle. How do I clean this up so the characters are in neat rows?

I usually let the terrain auto align my characters according to those funny lines which are hard to re-adjust. Make sure auto alignment is set everywhere or the characters might be set in some fixed battle formation that's scattered anyways.

In battle layout, you can manually place your characters at the appropriate distance. This works well for my game because I have only 3 characters and typically similar depth between terrains. Auto-align would work better for larger parties I assume.

Like so. Thats always worked for me, unless you have some different problem like a glitch. Of course, characters will always spread and condense vertically, thats just the way it works.

Like lennon said, except you can click on the vertical white lines and drag them left or right to change your party alignment from vertical to a nice neat diagonal view so none of your characters look crunched up.
