I find Burton midnight showings to be not such a great idea. Some once-seen-cannot-be-unseen stuff happened when I took a girl to the midnight showing of Sweeney Todd. Since then, I stay back for a week or so.
to note though, this was only produced by tim burton. not his film at all, his name is just there to draw in $$.
Like how Quentin Tarantino directed Hero, Chungking Express, Switchblade Sisters, Hostel, The Outpost, and Citizen Kane!
Spoilerz ahead..
I had a big problem with this movie. I'm pretty sure most people who are honest with themselves agreed with "1" most of the time, since nearly everything 9 wanted to do was irrational. This is pretty clear by the end when you see that only 4 of the 9 are left alive, when they were all perfectly alive from the beginning (why this is for some reason acceptable isn't made terribly clear either when we get the mother of all copouts, "oh well they're free now"), and had they not ever listened to 9 the movie could have ended with at least 8 of them still around.
So how does the writer deal with the fact that the main character is clearly wrong and irrational all the time? They totally contrive out of nowhere a reason for you to hate 1, ie that he sent 2 out to die for no good reason. That came across as, again, contrived as hell, but also not even within 1's character (no matter how much they made him out to be a douche, he didn't seem remotely capable of that).
Also, the dialogue was lame.

I thought the story was pretty flawed too.
The animation, voice acting, design, and action were spot on though.

I really wanted to see this last night, but the girls dragged me to All About Steve. :/ it was all about shit, imo
This 9 movie perks my interest, because I saw the original short film a while back and it was really well done.

haha you poor sucker.
...though it's not as bad as my friend and his wife. They went to The Time Traveler's Wife expecting some sort of sci-fi action flick. "Dude, you had a choice between Time Traveler's Wife and District 9, and you went to what?"
This was the same couple who hates dogs and went to Marley and Me and hated it. Well duh.

my femfriend said Time Traveller's Wife was terrible. In north america the most commonly favourite novel is HitchHiker's Guide to the Galaxy. With women; time traveller's wife. You'd think they wouldn't pull a Hollywood and CHANGE THE PLOT. O_o
I saw this last week. Liked it.
